I keep trying to talk my wife into installing a wood burning stove. She keeps saying we have no room.
Just use one of these in the middle of your living room...not much space required

That’s only 50k? Am I the only one that thinks that’s crazy?

It looks like it is in Iwate, which is just southeast of Aomori, which is the northernmost prefecture on the main island, and just northeast of Sendai, where the tsunami hit. It's quite a jaunt away from Tokyo and the more populous southern areas.

EDIT: There is an IKEA in Sendai though, which helps massively.

I think it's pretty much the middle of nowhere.

Perfect, right? Right along a river, in the mountains.

Are the dwellings there typically smaller than American ones (like I’m talking about the space between you & the walls/ceilings)? Or is that just like city thing there?

As whenever I see movies or whatever they’re always depicted as extremely small living areas.

I think outside the city it is not so different from European suburban spaces, which are generally relatively smaller than American spaces without being super obviously so. That's the impression I have, anyway. Everything outside of America is smaller than its American counterpart except for pulls of beer. The exception being New York apartments, I guess. I don't get the appeal of that shithole.

I know it’s not Japan but if you just want to daydream about living in a beautiful place with a beautiful dog, follow Rasta the white shepherd on instagram or FB.

It always looks spectacular there, but I couldn't imagine driving on those mountain roads.

Consider yourself warned.

Do not travel to Switzerland. I went for an adventure vacation where I did some technical climbing in the French Alps. Before and after the trip we stayed in some mid size cities and small villages. I have never encountered a more rude and arrogant people. People say its Germany with money and they are right. Germany has the same reputation but I can't imagine it is to the degree that it is in Switzerland. The Swiss are imo the weirdest group of people that I have encountered in Europe. Lack of humor, demeaning comments, arrogance... its a weird mixture. I was with a climbing group and it its something we all experienced individually and collectively.

Also the country is so expensive, just ridiculous.

Let me just answer this way - if you think I would ever go on an "adventure vacation," you are even more high than you usually are. The cost (which I knew about) alone is enough to keep me away, but it is very beautiful looking. I'm good just looking at pictures. I don't really like travel anyway - I like moving to other countries and just settling in.

id go visit first. Yes the swiss alps are breathtaking and it seems like a getaway but you are quickly reminded that this use to be the tax haven capital of europe with the 2nd highest gdp per capita in the world.
