And MOST importantly, Chia received a mandate from ownership to make the playoffs. How you guys want him to sell, he was forbidden.

Today Chia's goal was to buy were he felt he could, without screwing up the future of this team. He's done just that. But let's toss out this whole "Chia could have sold!" thing. No, he couldn't have.

Bruins are tied for 9th with the best GAA in the entire NHL, and are .06 GAA away from 7th.

Can people please explain why we needed to buy a rental for the blueline? We're 21st in scoring, we need to score more goals. I don't really see a blueline rental addressing that.

Today wasn't a binary decision for Chia, it's not just buy or sell. There was also the "buy just enough" and address your last need in the offseason. He could give his team just enough to compete in the playoffs, but not sacrifice the coming X years. And that's what he's done. It's hardly a failure.

His next big decision is spending money on the Yeti, or spending that money on another blueliner. Till that decision, he's kept all the core assets and still ices a competitive team. There's nothing wrong with that.

edit: trap jesus beat me to it...

Watch the games and our D is brutal, Rask's vezina january is helping that stat,

but we do need 1 forward + 1D, we have to limit chara's and seid's minutes.

we need a blue liner because our defense sucks and Rask hides how terrible they are

it's easy to look at the scores afterwards and say "we almost never let in a lot of goals!"

that's tuukka, not our defense. why do you think he is so pissed after every loss? he has openly called out our defense.

we give up 30 shots almost every game and tons of high quality scoring chances. it's a mess.

and expecting tuukka to bail our ***** out through the playoffs is a horrible idea. what if he gets injured? what if he has a bad playoffs? we're out immediately.

The problem is this defense has ability to fold under pressure. How many comebacks against us, or goals scored in the last minute of periods have there been. Overall they keep the goals down, but they ALWAYS seem to have a brain fart or two that ends up in the back of the net.

Campbell or Paille hopefully.

Those are the two ainwould move.

Smith probably has more appeal.

I think Loui may have been shopped but his NTC hampers who they can deal with (and Loui isn't waiving to go to Buffalo or Edmonton).

Up to this point, certainly isn't operating like he has a mandate to make the playoffsl. Holding judgement for another hour.
