The Stars are another team in freefall.

He is making $9.5m until 35. Short term, love the idea. Long term with his contract in consideration, I don't.

To me, that sounds like a guy who would take a few mill less a year to play on a winning team than more in another city.

Is this true of anyone who wants to play on a winning team.

Discount maybe, a few million over the life of the deal maybe. It’s a huge jump to assume this guy would take ~3M per year less. Wouldn’t hurt to ask, but the front office better be prepared to be laughed at.
