Vegas. I thought it was Colorado, but to get Hertl on top of what they had already done is stuff you do in NHL video games. They have 3 defensemen in Pietrangelo/Theodore/Hanifin that you can argue are all #1 defensemen, their goalie is top 5 in goals saved above expected per 60, they added Mantha (who's underlying numbers are very good, contract year Mantha is a real thing) + Hertl to a forward core that was already pretty deep. Vegas is once again built to play any style of hockey, and they got the best defensive corps heading into the playoffs that I can ever remember in recent years

The West looks like an absolute bloodbath while Florida looks the most likely to get to the conference final in the East, so... them.

Florida. As good as anyone and will have the easiest path to the finals, especially compared to the teams out west. Would put Colorado and Vegas in the same category but they’ll have a much harder road and could be out in the first round.

Think the next best two teams in the east are Rangers and Canes in the metro. Boston imo is a paper tiger with an inflated record due to having 2 great goalies for the regular season. You only need 1 in the playoffs… And the Leafs are the Leafs, so Florida won’t have to face another top contender until the conference finals at the earliest.
