I barely saw Duncan Keith’s name in this thread. The guy is a slam dunk Hall of Famer, probably first ballot.

2 Norris trophies, Conn Smythe, 3 Stanley Cups, 2 Olympic Gold Medals.

There’s no way in hell that guy doesn’t make the Hall of Fame, no way.

Edit: forgot he retired, my bad

Never said he did, just correcting stats.
Yeah I don't know what I read wrong, but obviously something. Makes my point not as strong, but Giordano still has a stronger career based on 2 way imo and a Norris win, and if he's not considered (which is fair), Letang shouldn't either

Giordano has 9 career playoff points, you're embarrassing yourself bringing him up in this thread. No way is he a hall of fame lock or comparable to Letang

Giordano as a Hall-of-famer? Bahaha. Maybe he'll get his jersey number retired by Calgary and/or Seattle.

No way is Pietrangelo a HOFer. Wasn't even a top 3 d-man in the league any single season. Great player, very solid career but come on now.

If they retired today:
Bergeron
Chara
Crosby
Doughty
Getzlaf
Hedman
Kane
Karlsson
Keith
Kopitar
Kucherov
Malkin
McDavid
Ovechkin
Price
Stamkos
Thornton
Toews
Weber

Almost there:
Draisaitl
MacKinnon
Makar
Marchand
Matthews
Vasilevskiy

Possibly:
Backstrom
Fleury
Giroux
Josi
Letang
Suter

Makar "almost there?" That's funny.

Sure he looks like he will have a good shot but can we wait till he's 25 at least?

Letang is a solid yes for me. He was a fantastic all around defenseman. He likely would have won a norris if he had a healthy season in the mid 2010s. I wonder if the lack of individual accomplishments will hurt him but I think hes a player who will get in but he will wait a bit.

Would have to wait until Cale is 30 to see if he truly qualifies.

Locks among active or recently activish players (played within last 1.5 years):

Bergeron
Chara
Thornton
Karlsson
Marleau (yeah, he will make it)
Kopitar
Doughty
Kane
Keith
Crosby
Malkin
Fleury
Ovechkin
Stamkos
Hedman
Josi
Weber
McDavid

Weird cases, probably closer to locks, Quick is a bit weaker:

Toews
Price
Quick

Almost locks, need just a couple of good or one more great season (for Perry and Giordano relative to their current limited roles):

Burns
Perry
Kucherov
Vasilevskiy
Giordano

Big ol’ names, nice stats, no personal hardware. Somewhat strong outside chance:

Tavares
Giroux
Backstrom
Letang
Pietrangelo

Big ol’ names, nice stats, no personal hardware. Somewhat weak outside chance:

Getzlaf
Suter
Wheeler
Staal

Trending there, but need more than a couple of good seasons. Top-5 is projecting to be soon to be almost locks:

Draisaitl
MacKinnon
Matthews
Makar
Barkov
Marchand
Gaudreau

Tavares is getting in.

He’ll finish with 1,000+ points, and he’s a Top 5 goal scorer of his era behind Ovi/ Stamkos/ Kane/ Sid.

I'm pretty sure Makar right now has a HoF resume tbh. If someone with a fairly long career had that kind of peak and never repeated it no one would question it, with good reasons. Something incredibly astounding would have to happen for him to not make it

I know that he gets no love for this here but, Corey Perry.

1 Memorial cup
1 U18 Gold
1 U20 Gold
1 World Championship Gold
1 World Cup Gold
1 Stanley Cup
1 Hart Trophy
1 Richard Trophy

In a vacuum his points and personal awards don’t quite add up, but he has been one of the faces of the league for a very long time - despite playing in Anaheim (no offence) for the majority of his career and because he is a huge POS to play against.

I’m not saying he should be a lock - just considered.

Getzlaf & Perry are locks, and they’ll probably go into the Hall the same year. They might not be first ballot, but they’ll be in the Hall.
