I have a couple of friends who officiate in minor hockey and they always tell me they are taught to keep penalties fair. Try and keep it 50/50 so that no team really gets the advantage because of the officiating.

Now the part I don't get, IS THAT TRUE AT ALL?

As a habs fan I am sure you know where I am going with this.

tonight it's 8-2 with 2 5-3 against

Really how does this happen if they are told to try and keep the game fair?

(or what he told me isn't true)

I wasn't told that when I officiated, and completely disagree with that comment.

Penalties shouldn't be "even" they should be fair. If one team is committing all of the fouls, call that one team.
