Playing Boston and then Columbus on the road? Yeah, I think most people would live with a 1-1 record. It just happened in the reverse order in this case.

With that said, this game has a bit of a red flag. You’d think McDavid and the leadership group would want to show Henrique and Carrick the “Oilers way” and the standard expected of them. Instead, they have their worst effort of the season.

This happens every year with lower seed teams. They are playing for their jobs next season. Remember the DOD and how after the all star break the Oilers always put it all all the line especially against top teams? It happens every year I’m not reading to much into it.

In saying that we need to upgrade the D tomorrow. Ceci/VD isn’t going to cut it I’m afraid.

Bouchard was terrible all night, his give a shit meter in his own end is a joke. Ekholm had his warts tonight as well and then there’s Ceci.
Ceci has to be dealt tomorrow for a steady upgrade.
We ain’t winning the cup with these 3 goalies either, Holland better keep working the phone.

Ekholm Bouchard
Nurse Desharnais
Kulak Ceci

That's nowhere near a Cup winning defense. I love VD as a player, but he's not a top four D man. Ceci is just flat trash. Need that Carrier upgrade.

Buffalo has been playing solid hockey lately and has a ridiculously good goalie in Luukkonen so this team better not take them lightly.

Holland saying “We’re happy with the 6 dmen we’ve got” the other day is code for “No one wants Ceci. We’re stuck with him.”

Thought he was forcing plays all night. Not a particularly good game from him tonight. Even on the assist no hands pass. (feet) heh

Not a good night for both him and Leo. Turnovers galore. I know Leo has that one timer, but Connor constantly trying to pass to him (especially on the PP) is tiresome. The PKERS know who he always attempts to pass the puck to.

Traded for Henrique who's supposed to be our top 6 winger (for now). What does Knob do? Puts McDrai together right at the 2nd period. Getting real f***ing tired of every single coach putting those two together at the first sign of panic. Enough already.
yup.
new player comes in, and see's who is going to line up with, only for the coach to panic, and F@#k everything up.
hard to adapt in game to a new team, when every shift you're partnered with new linemates and a different position.
seeds of doubt are being sown in by this coach...

Ok my patented 10 minute overreaction is over. That was ugly. Flush it and move on. Let's see one last move tomorrow Holland. Move heaven and earth bud. Lay your nuts on the table.

Columbus is just a cursed team for us at times. We did the exact same dumb BS against them on the road last year didn't we? That was the game McDavid scored a beauty SH goal but wasn't enough

Not sure how Henrique can gain good chemistry when its always "MCDRAI" once there's early signs of panic. Nobody else on this team can drive their lines aside from those 2. Enough, already. It's not a recipe for success. Good grief.

The D is obviously missing a RHD option in the top 4 and the top 6 needs a winger because Kane isn’t one anymore.

Poor effort and stubborn refusal to shoot pucks and keep things simple, but the roster holes are obvious.

We shouldn't have to dress a team full of Allstars to beat the freaking blue jackets.

Roster construction was not the issue tonight.

Their defence is young and inexperienced. Lots of mistakes out there, we just need to cash in. They play about the same way our defence did tonight.

Well deserved win by CBJ. If only EDM worked even half as hard as them most nights they'd probably never lose a game. But it's been tough to watch for a while now. Any forecheck pressure and this team completely crumbles. They seemingly turn the puck over every single shift and I'm not even exaggerating at this point. It could be 5 on 1 and they still lose the puck battle. They just can't be bothered to give a damn unless it's the third.

Outworked, outshot and outscored.
Terrible puck management. Terrible D zone coverage. The top PP unit created very little.
Very sloppy game and it was very clear that Columbus wanted this a lot more.

Drai and McDavid were just as bad as the rest of the team.

This game had loss written all over it from the opening period.

Corry Perry was the best Oiler in this game. Carrick at least looked like he cared as well.
