Although not in the original rules, one option could be is to have the gm have the ability to release a player.
2 conditions for this would be the released player would not be available until the start of the next round and the team releasing the player could only replace the player at the end of the 26 rds.
eg. agent releases one of the above players like Dumont. Dumont would not be available until rd 13. Agent can pick a player at the end of rd 26 as a comp pick
Seems fair, what do other Gms think?
Is this rule official?
If yes, I'm gonna make a move before my pick.
Chicago selects Angelo Esposito
Also I'm combining the entry draft and the rounds 21-26 into one with order being reversed
The 21st to 26th rounds will have different rules to help teams over the cap and but rewarding players with cap space. This is in order to keep the game competitve.
Of the remaining team's 6 picks, 2 will be in $2-3 million range, 2 picks will be in the $1-2 million range and two players will be under $1 million.
If your team is over the cap you must pick players in the range. However if ur team has cap space you can spread it around...for example
EG.
If a team has a cap space of more than 2 million, it will be rounded up, and you can either increase the range of one pick by 3 mill or increase three picks by 1 mill

I've taken a player from the 2-3 mill range+1 mill upgrade and was able to pick a player in the 3-4 mill range which was Stamkos @3.725. Angelo took his 2-3 slot and used his only upgrade to pick Doughty @3.475.
I hope that makes sense
wow ... im lost lol ..
what i dont understand is where are you getting this projected salaries for rookies. I understand the base salary but are you taking the full cap hit including the bonuses? and if you are wouldn't you have to wait for the after 08/09 season to properly subtract those numbers from our current cap. Base on my experiences with 1 year draft pools, it's conventionally easier to just worry about the base salary for rookies rather than projecting their salary with bonuses included.. however, its up you.. its your pool. I just wanted to know how you were getting these numbers and if you are using cap site that i dont know about. and if so.. please post. lol
when a number isn't listed in nhlnumbers.com i go to nhlscap.com
and yes i do include bonuses cause it counts against the cap and those bonuses are for the most part easy to attain
