Depends on the trades/fa in the offseason tbh, way too early to tellLet's say they get lucky and get Bedard or Fantilli, how are you setting the top 9?

no spoilsWrestlemania has been entertaining, thanks for asking
lol, you think this team won't go back to 2 dmen on the ppWould? Frost can't play ahead of Cates as is, so surely you're right. He has a coach who does not hide his partiality.
Should? I'm a Couturier stan, but what he'll provide isn't a definite. He might not be Couturier of 3 years ago. Even if he is, I'd like to see them within 1-1.5 minutes of each other at 5v5, with the talent balanced. Most top teams have their top lines in that window. Couturier is not a McDavid/MacKinnon level horse anyway. If Frost is 2C in min/game at 5v5, I'd consider that an unlikely win even.
Just as important to me is special teams. There's really no excuse for Frost not getting PP1 time in an actual spot to succeed (and experimenting with 2nd/3rd unit PKing). But this team doesn't know its ass from its elbow when it comes to the PP. PP1 will probably be DeAngelo, Tippett, Couturier, Cates, Konecny.
So Frost actually has slightly less 5-on-5 minutes than Cates over the season. Ofc I think it's a good thing If they're trending in opposite directions of late, and Frost really is getting more ice-time at 5-on-5. He's also their best C on offence atm, so would be really cooky if Cates still got more minutes.Funny, because Frost gets more 5x5 minutes than Cates. But why let facts get in the way of a good rant.
1) After Patrick fiasco I won't be upset if they call up players one year later. Lets see how camp goes.Let's say they get lucky and get Bedard or Fantilli, how are you setting the top 9?
It’s been explained to you previously ad nauseam.Funny, because Frost gets more 5x5 minutes than Cates. But why let facts get in the way of a good rant.
Wait, they both played? Didn't even realize.Hayes and JVR just utter no shows.
The last 50 games (starting Dec 7 when JVR returned to the lineup), Cates moved to center and the lines were generally set. When Hayes moved back to center, Laughton moved to LW.It’s been explained to you previously ad nauseam.
You’re either dumb, which I don’t think you are, or you’re purposefully misrepresenting the issue, which I think you are doing.
In the absence of a winning lottery ball, about the best this team could ice would be this with Laughton as 3C and Cates in the ???, as I really don't see Laughton moved. Sending out Hayes with retention for a modest return is a win.TK - Couts - Atkinson
Farabee - Frost - Tippett
??? - Cates - Foerster
Deslauriers - Desnoyers - Allison
Hayes, Laughton moved. JVR, Lemieux, Bellows FA
The last 50 games (starting Dec 7 when JVR returned to the lineup), Cates moved to center and the lines were generally set. When Hayes moved back to center, Laughton moved to LW.
Frost played 14:01 at 5x5, Cates 13:37 over that period. Cates played 17:37 to Frost 17:05 in all situations.
Before that, Cates played a lot of LW and Hayes and Laughton were at center. So you can't compare times for the entire season if you want to focus on time at center.
They're used differently, Cates is matched against opponents' top lines, whereas they try to find easier matchups for the Frost line so they can focus on offense. Of course, on the road, that's difficult to maintain.
Both players benefited from having "set lines," Frost has scored at a 2.54 pp/60 over that stretch, and Cates at 1.77 pp/60).
One thing that jumps out, scoring really took off league-wide since December, so while both players improved offensively, so did the rest of the league.
McDavid 5.01 pp/60
Draisaitl 4.38
Kucherov 4.13
MacKinnon 4.10
RNH 4.03
Pastrnak 3.99
Tkachuk 3.92
Pettersson 3.85
Point 3.82
Thompson 3.76
TK 2.93 (34g) - 48th
Frost 2.53 - 88th
Tippett 2.12 - 150th
Laughton 2.11 - 152nd
Hayes 1.88 - 191st
Cates 1.77 - 205th
JVR 1.75 - 210th
Farabee 1.53 - 238th
Allison 1.16 - 283rd

...Mic drop...As usual, your facts are incorrect.
Cates has 1005:33 5on5 ice time in 76 games - 13:14 per game. Cates has 24 points at 5on5.
Frost has 983:49 in 75 games - 13:07 per game. Frost has 32 points at 5on5 - joint most with Farabee, one more than Hayes.

i totally agree, but i would not be suprised if couts get less points next season then frost did/will this yearThere’s no way Frost would/should play ahead of Couturier.
