They say if you have a room full of chimps and you give each chimp a typewriter and endless amounts of paper the chimps will eventually write something equivalent to Shakespeare. Fletcher would still not figure out how to be an effective GM in that amount of time

Go across all the NHL and find me a worse combo than Mutt and Fatso for 14 million dollars. They are garbage.

Good to see the young guys score , BB looks great at least. Sanheim was a monster.

Jones Gromp Yandy Big Mac Conky are the 5 worst players on the ice for every game we play. Those odds are impossible to overcome. All big additions by Chuckles

Was at the game....was 4 rows behind the net for $80... can't beat that and we were in the end where most of the goals occurred..... my take on the game (great game btw) Brink was fantastic...kids skating is choppy and he's so small...but his vision and hockey sense is off the charts... game is slow for him like it is for the elite players..... his confidence is up so much from his first game its nuts.... Z looked good moving the puck as well (really really skinny more so than on TV) ... TK was great (he was all over the ice) ... Frost defensive game was solid today but his play making wasn't great and he really struggled along the boards...... unlike Brink in which the game already seems to have slowed down for him with Frost you see it happening just its taking a long time.....they shouldn't give up on him yet... Cates looked great... good speed (which I thought wouldn't be the case)... smart player that seems to be in the right place from a defensive and fore checking standpoint.. Tippett speed and size are great tools for him.... his play making isn't very good misses a lot of easy passes but his drive to the net was good (good game again for him overall)...Kids looked good for the most part....great result as we need the losses tbh

They looked good in the first period, then the ceiling caved in.

Zamula didn't look ready for prime time in this game, he's certainly not ready for top 4 duties. He just turned 22 so no worry, but I think his frame will limit what he can do, he's not a speed merchant like Sanheim, he's going to lose leverage battles, so it comes down to anticipation and stick work.

Cates is for real, it's so obvious his game was suppressed at Minn-Duluth, he's smart and has the skill package to take advantage of his IQ - not an elite talent, but easily top 9 with top 6 potential as a supporting winger. Plays 200 feet and the puck finds him.

Frost and Tippett are similar, they play faster than they think, Frost skates into trouble or holds the puck too long, Tippett makes things happen then misses the opportunity he creates - but look at Tage Thompson, some players just need a couple years for the game to slow down for them, patience is a virtue as long as the kid keeps working hard to improve. If you don't have innate hockey intelligence, then you need experience to learn to see what's happening.

Brink at 20 is a better player than Frost, hands down. He needs to continue to work on his skating, but he showed some jets when needed. He's in some ways similar to G, the way he controls the puck in a small area and has the vision to hit a linemate through a crowd. You can't teach that stuff. His squat body allows him to play in traffic and his high IQ gets him into plays at both ends. He's going to replace G on the PP and with the right coach (and York at PP1 QB) they might get back to respectable next year.

Sanheim on the other hand is not good in a small area, the 6 on 5 when he was on the blue line, tried to hold the puck, couldn't find anyone to pass to and was stripped shows why PP duty may not be his "thing." He's best on the move in open space where those long strides pressure the defense. But those long legs also make it harder to maneuver in small spaces.

JVR has his 20 goals, time for a "injury" and sit out the rest of the season.

Zamula has some weak points in his game. Some that he may never overcome but he has some assets as well. I hope that the organization focuses on them. I'm getting tired of hearing that he's scrawny, weak and won't be able to play in tough areas. He can skate; move the puck; has a good stick and a nice hockey IQ. Like with a lot of players, their success may rely on who they are paired with a lot of the time.

Unless a prospect is a completely finished product who is somehow magically acclimated to NHL play without ever playing in the NHL, then the best move is obviously signing the Yandles and Seelers and Prossers of the world to play ahead of them always and forever.

That's worked so well for the Flyers after all.

in one season Chuck managed to get rid of all the creativity this team had had and turn the team into collection of unwatchable unintelligent players. no top draft pick could fix that, especially, with the way this organization develops youth.
What creativity did he get rid of?

Ghost? He of a grand total of 3 primary assists 5v5 over his last two seasons as a Flyer combined?

Voracek? Well, he wanted out, and didn't we all complain that this team had too many pass-first players and not enough shooters? He was exhibit A.

Who else?

They added Frost for more than half the season. He was supposed to be a creative player.

Giroux? He was here until the deadline, when he had to go.

What it boils down to is that the organization is very low on skill, and has been for many years. Hopefully players like York and Brink add to it. Maybe Foerster and Andrae eventually. Hopefully whomever they pick early in this draft. And maybe a couple players this summer via UFA and trade.
