Agree the Oilers need to lean on draft and develop but in the meantime cap space is required.

Not at all. Either one of them attached to Jesse Puljujarvi would be an immediate detriment to the current and future Oilers' roster. If you're committed to the draft and develop method, then no, the cap is not that significant an issue that you need to hurt your immediate roster to clear a few million in salary here or there.

The Oilers will not acquire a top four defenseman this summer. They likely aren't in the market for any significant forward either. The idea that they're desperate to clear immediate cap is ridiculously overblown.
