I used to wonder how McLaren made the league so early but when you look at the rest of the guys on defense then, there wasn't much of a choice.

The Bruins took notes of what had happened in Chicago the previous year where they had a big night and then had playoff games.

The Indiana Pacers did the same thing four years later when they closed Market Square Arena, playing a preseason game in the fall to close the place down before moving down the street. I missed that game but did cover the (what is now) Bankers Life Fieldhouse opener against the Celtics.

One of their few forays into drafting/signing Russian players. The Bruins didn't dip their toes in those waters very much. Outside of Dmitri Kvartalnov, I can't really think of a Russian player who made much of an impact for the Bruins in that era. Denis Chervyakov at eliteprospects.com

I never really got to listen to Bob Wilson call the Bruins. By the time WBZ got the rights and its booming signal came into Indiana, he had retired and Bob Neumeier had replaced him. I wish I had - what scant few clips I've heard, he was one of the best ever.
