I'm not going to kill him too much on that one. If it's Jake or Rust or even a McCann or Tanev, they go to that spot to take the quick pass and take the puck. Kapanen went to fly the zone.

There was a purpose to that pass. The error was assuming Kapanen would know like Jake or Rust or even McCann or Tanev know.

Something like that comes with time.

The perplexing thing to me is he hasn't really relied on his skating the past few years, so I don't think this is a case of him being unable to carry the puck with authority any more. Because really he hasn't been able to do that for a few years now. But he has still found a way to be a brilliant offensive player even as his legs have gotten worse.

This year though it's like...ooof. This isn't a case of him being snakebitten. He deserves the point totals he has.
