nobodys blaming Mason here for the game..

but you gotta be delusional to not see Mason is REALLY bad in the SO...

Yeah he's awful but so are the shooters. The shooters never can score more than 1 goal and most of the time it's like tonight where they don't score at all. It's a total team effort in our shootout suckage.

All and all a successful weekend.

3 out of 4 points, and the pens lost Malkin.

If the Wings could have lost followed by a pens loss tomorrow? Well that would have been a world where good things happen to us haha

Optics just look worse when Mase just stands there. He didn't budge on first shot and 2nd barely moved. He should try the old road hockey 2 pad stack over what he did in 1st shot tonight.

He's not good at them but i'm never going to harp on the goalies in these things until our shooters stop becoming historically bad at shooting in these things.

I don't know the exact numbers but it's been posted here before (it's obviously growing with each shootout) but the Flyers shooters are shooting somewhere around 1% in these things.

PEB is a regular under Haks in OT.

I just pray Hexy takes 1 of the pets away and adds a real 4 th liner to boost up the other 2. PEB is my fav, but he may have to take the fall

It has to be vdv. He adds nothing to the team that can't be replaced. Peb at least has a little skill. White grinds out there and gets to the dirty areas. Vdv has zero redeeming qualities. I seriously can't think of any except being a body out there and I guess hustling.

It would be a god-send to get a Brodziak/Gordon/Fiddler/Gaustad/Moore... who can play awful, nasty minutes and fair ok in them. It would help free our top six up more as well.

Gaustad could work, adds the good FO numbers and size. With age he should come cheaper on 2 yrs max too.

Even tho I'm not a White fan,

PEB Gaustad White would be tough to play against. Plus they could cheat on every draw :)

You serious? Our goaltending is far worse than our shooters historically.

I'll try to find the numbers, but our goaltending, IIRC, is almost three (3!!!) standard deviations from the mean since the shootout's inception. And our goaltending in shootouts is last by a full country mile. Our shooters were bad, but no where even close to that level of ineptitude.

Maybe it was since Mason arrived then because I remember someone posting his save percentage compared to the shooters shooting percentage & the shooters were worse.

While Mason was subpar, the defense was absolutely horrendous this game. Very soft plays by Medvedev, Manning, Schultz. I actually missed Amac this game and that's saying something on how bad we lack defense. I cannot wait until Provorov and Morin come up.

Once again the Achilles heel for the Flyers is and always will seem to be shootouts... until we use

Konecny
Giroux
Cousins

Stolarz

And was #32 absolute garbage or what. Please unload him in the summer once we can retain salary again. We would get better with addition through subtraction.

we need a goalie to step up. Mason didn't have a good game today (not even including the shootout).

Leier is also a pretty good SO guy... hopefully can be our Josefson!

Florida is a deep and solid team. They are legit cup contenders imo. At this point in the season, a point from them is a victory. We need wins but we weren't gonna win 20 straight so a point is a point

Maybe, but Mason is still god awful in shootouts.

Here are the historical numbers through 2015:

So goaltending has been the major problem historically.

As far as this season goes, Mason is second worst in shootouts of all starters just behind Antti Niemi. Honestly, I'd be surprised if he's not the worst of all starters since he's been a Flyer, but I don't have those numbers in front of me. This season, his shootout save percentage is .471 (not sure if that includes tonight, so it could be even worse). That's mortifyingly bad.

I swear, every time he gets the puck and has a little pressure he just whips it along the backboards and we lose possession on the PP.

With the nagging injuries or whatever seems to be Mase's niche. I feel like he will be our Philly version of Crawford. Good-Great while not completely elite. But good enough that IF we ever give him the defense we have projected, we can win a cup or some.

Shooting has been almost equally bad though. 2nd worst shot percentage all time. So really it's both sides of the coin that suck. Goaltending just sucks a tiny bit more.
