All time series record: The Islanders lead 35-32-14. Islanders all time @ Oilers are 12-23-5
The Edmonton Oilers and New York Islanders sit the bottom of their respective divisions.
Both clubs appear to be turning their attention to the future after moving key pieces before the trade deadline.
The Oilers try to avoid their first home loss to the Islanders in nearly a decade Thursday night.
The Islanders have taken two straight and nine of 12 from the Oilers, including a 3-2 home win Oct. 17. However, they have been outscored 9-3 during a three-game losing streak in Edmonton that dates to a 5-2 victory March 13, 2003.
The Oilers had been limited to two goals during an 0-1-2 skid before beating Ottawa 3-2 on Tuesday. Hemsky scored twice, Taylor Hall, who had a pair of goals against the Islanders in October, notched two assists and Ben Scrivens stayed hot with 34 saves.
Scrivens is 4-2-0 with a 1.84 goals-against average and one shutout in his last six starts.
The Islanders are coming off Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win at Winnipeg. Michael Grabner and Anders Lee each had a goal and an assist and Anders Nilsson stopped 36 shots.
