Laughton is better at 2LW than Farabee, I think that's become obvious the last few games.
Some of this is physical maturity, some of this is chemistry with Hayes.

Laughton v Grant at 3C, nobody knows, which is why AV is giving Grant a few games there, Laughton is much better at LW than C, similar issue to Giroux.

Bottom six forwards in the playoffs (by EV TOI):
Kings 2011-12: Penner (29), King (22), Stoll (29), Richardson (26), Fraser (27), Nolan (22)
Kings 2013-14: Carter (29), Richards (28), Toffoli (21), Pearson (21), Lewis (27), Clifford (23)
Caps 2017-18: Stephenson (23), Vrana (21), Smith-Pelly (25), Connolly (25), Beagle (32), Burakovsky (22), Chiasson (27)
Pens 2015-16: Kunitz (36), Sheary (23), Cullen (39), Rust (23), Kuhnhackl (24)
Pens 2016-17: Sheary (24), Bonino (28), Cullen (40), Wilson (24), Hornqvist (30), Hagelin (28), Rowney (27)
Blues 2018-19: Blais (22), Thomas (19), Bozak (32), Steen (34), Barbasheev (23), Maroon (30), Sanford (24)/Fabbri (23).

Only 3 players under 22 years old:
Toffoli 6'0 197
Pearson 6'1 210
Thomas 6'0 188
(4) 22 year old players:
King 6'4 229
Nolan 6'3 219
Burakovsky 6'3 201
Blais 6'2 205

Notice any common denominator with these seven players?
So Rust, Kuhnhackl, Sheary, Wilson, Blais, Sanford, King, Nolan, Clifford, Stephenson, Vrana, Burakovsky werent young forwards? LOL. It's not about age, but about experiences... and they were young forwards without much experiences for a playoffs...

And on another side. I don't see there any players who were in tier with Thompson or Grant. What a surprise.

Matt Cullen for Pitt would be a Thompson comparable.

I thought those players listed were closer to 23-25? With minor league experience of a few years. I could be wrong but I don’t think they were 20.

And Farabee would be only and one so young. And the point is all teams prefered speed, young player instead veterans like Thompson.... :))

We didn't need it in the last game, but hopefully we can ride out another game of ridiculous luck from Hagg.

Win this game and the playoffs are in sight IMO

Frost too? And if Patrick and lindblom weren’t where they are, this wouldn’t even be a conversation.
Pretty sure Eric fehr played a lot with the pens one of those years. Thinkining Kunitz too.

We have gone from Boyd Gordon and Chris Vandevelde to discussing who should play from Farabbe Frost Thompson Grant etc.

I will keep saying that - while these discussion might be annoying - I am glad we are where we are... and as I said during the TDL, who knows what Holmgren would have given up for those two players

You can ice the best forward lineup and still have more than enough vets.

Giroux
Couturier
Voracek
Farabee
Hayes
TK
JVR
Laughton
Frost
NAK
Grant
Raffl
Pitlick

There's 13 guys. Only Farabee and Frost are "kids".

If you don't want Frost at C...

Wings fan just sharing. Now please make the playoffs, smash the Pens & close what remains of their cup window, thanks. Sincerely, 30 NHL teams.

This kid has a future Cup & Conn Smythe with his name on it.

I didnt write about Frost. Only about Patrick + Farabee instead of these two 4th liners.

Are you seriously comparable Fehr and Kunitz with Thompson and Grant?? One duo were TOP6 players one day. Second duo werent anyday.

I’m comparing age and speed. What you mentioned. Fehr was a slug. Played every playoff game and had 3g 1 a. 14 regular season points in 58 games. Are you saying AV should be dressing Patrick but is benching him for grant? You’re confusing me.

Except for the 3 players 21 and young, all the "young" forwards had either 3-4 college plus 1 AHL year, or 2+ AHL seasons worth of experience, similar to NAK.

Grant has 14 ES points in 51 games, Thompson 13 points in 65 games

Kings 2011-12: Penner (65g, 16 points), Stoll (78g, 13), Richardson (59g, 7), Fraser (67g, 8)

Kings 2013-14: Lewis (73g, 10), Clifford (71g, 8)

Caps 2017-18: Stephenson (67g, 18), Smith-Pelly (75g, 16), Connolly (70g, 22), Beagle (79g, 24), Chiasson (61g, 14)

Pens 2015-16: Sheary (44g, 10), Cullen (82g, 26), Rust (41g, 10), Kuhnhackl (42g, 13), Fehr (55g, 9)

Pens 2016-17: Bonino (80g, 25), Cullen (72g, 25), Wilson (78g, 24), Hornqvist (70g, 27), Hagelin (61g, 21), Rowney (27g 7)

Blues 2018-19: Steen (65g, 20), Barbasheev (80g, 24), Maroon (74g, 17), Sanford (60g, 19)/Fabbri (32g, 6).

They need Patrick back at 3c. If not frost. Laughton there if farabee is up. Only one of grant or Thompson on 4th line. I wonder if Patrick is in the plans after all. If not a kid comes back up with 5-10 games left if grant is giving no offense at all.
