Here's my Euro "want list" after Dahlin, Kotkaniemi & Boqvist. These are guys who I've seen enough and feel are worth a pick. I watch Swedes and Russians the most, but try to catch games of the others when possible. May have missed some names, and some consensus picks are missing (usually due to lack of upside in my opinion). Really like the depth of talent in the top ~100 of this draft, hopefully the Wings can take advantage of that. Many of the guys at the bottom of this list probably won't be drafted and their order isn't so exact, but they're guys who I liked and think are worth following.

I actually don't assume and can pretty much promise you that Lias Andersson wasn't #1 on their board either. Rasmussen was their choice when they could actually select. Their actual list wouldn't have them #1 and #2, just kind of how this goes.

I mean only Brian Burke drafts the top player on his board every year.

Not my words, Kris Drapers words. He didn't directly say Lias Andersson, but said "there was a trade; something happened" and the only trade that happened before Detroit's first pick was.... who? Rangers #7; Lias Andersson. You can watch the timestamped video here

You really like 9 Euro's better than Kupari?

It might be because I haven't seen him as much as some of the others, but not 100% confident in his upside. Looks like many lists have him in the 15-20 range, I wouldn't pick him quite that high. DraftinEurope has him at #18, FWIW.

I feel like you guys are going back and forth on semantics.... but I can pretty much guarantee that Hischier or Patrick was "at the top of their boards", just like Dahlin will be at the top of their boards this year

I want Dobson, but i doubt we get him.

Have a feeling it'll be either Hughes or Bouchard if they go for a defenseman.

The point is that they originally had identified another player that they expected to be there at 9, that they liked better than Rasmussen. Now obviously plans changed when the Rangers traded up to nab Andersson, and Detroit has been pleased with the development of Ras so far. But based on who they took, and who else they thought they'd take, I REALLY hope they put their money where their mouth is, and emphasize skill in their draft selections this year.

If they want to take a flier or two later in the draft on giant forwards that are Eagle Scouts who have all their merit badges, cool. But the first 2-3 rounds better be high ceiling, puck possession, dynamic kind of players.

The top is similar to how I have my rankings, after seemingly going back and forth on this every single day. The top 2 are well above and beyond the rest. Realistically, there are 3 names I have pegged for 6 that I would come away feeling like a kid who got what they asked for on Christmas. If, by some chance, those 3 are gone, I really don't have much differentiating the rest of the pack, just a general assessment combining upside and need. But I promise you won't see me complain about anyone unless they stay put and select Boqvist at 6.

Dahlin
Svechnikov

Dobson
Zadina
Hughes

Kotkaniemi
Bouchard
Wahlstrom
Tkachuk

Do not draft Boqvist in the top 10.

So basically, everybody has a different favorite to take at #6...but everybody would riot if they took Hayton.

A Dman is definitely my preference but I love the idea of a Tkachuk - Larkin - Mantha line.

That mix of grit, size, skill and speed would be a nightmare for opposing teams.
