For you younger fans, the Flyers rivalry with the Blues from 67 thru the mid 70s was as intense as their rivalry with the Pens from 2007 to now.
I watched the Colorado-Detroit ESPN rivalry documentary and instantly thought...if video existed of the Flyers-Blues or Flyers-Rangers.,,, the latter including some pre-season games.... woo.

Colorado-Detroit was insane mayhem and insane skill, and would make modern NHL viewers recoil in horror. But regards the 1967-1970 Blues-Flyers, I've little idea beyond wordy reports...I think mayhem was simply more amateur in those days? Would be interesting to see more beyond the few clips that are available.

Yeah, it is tough to compare and contrast eras. The Flyers had some nasty battled with the Leafs, Canucks and Bruins and other franchises as well. Colorado-Detroit was something unique perhaps because those teams didn't have such vitriol with other franchises and because it was less common than say the expansion era into the 1980s.

meeting so often in the playoffs, with same lineups, fed into it. plus Claude Lemieux.

Anyone want to wager on how long it's going to take to convince my family to put the Flyers on instead of the Eagles?

Cates! Glad to see him back and contributing. High hopes that he thrives in some role for these Flyers.

sorry man. usually a good bet to stay interested in a NFL playoff game no matter the matchup versus a mid-season NHL game. I see right now it's not going so well. Plenty of time. Plus this Flyers game ain't all that.
