Right, he's not making the bail-the-team out saves like he usually has in the past. No one has described Vasy's play as elite since this series started. It is painfully clear at this point.
So, with that established, perhaps our defensemen should step up their defensive game going forward - not elite level or anything - just not let a guy with the puck stroll down from our blueline to the slot uncontested, or let a guy setup in the crease for rebound shots uncontested. Is that so absurd? Maybe it even makes sense.
Of course it would be great if Vasy returns to elite goalie form - but let's also have our defensive defensemen (cause we sure didn't sign Cole for his offense) make standard, routine defensive plays in the meantime as a plan B, just to cover all the bases.
