Reimer just keeps playing that chicken with his head off goaltending. When he stops the puck he looks like a hero because he's making routine saves look like life and death but when they get by him he deflates the team and they play terrified. Too mercurial and unpredictable to have him back there. Cannot wait till that backup role is consolidated with a steady veteran hand.

Agree 100%

Our defense is bad and Reimer makes it worse with no rebound control and constantly losing his stick.

He's a great guy though.

And yet he kept the Leafs in the game today and was lights out vs the Ducks and Columbus. Dat logic.

Only 2 have worse goals against average in the league that have played enough games.

Poulin and Dubnyk. Those stats

GAA is a bad stat for analyzing goalies

Reimer can be blamed for other poor performances but today wasn't really one of them.

Reimer sucked today.

He was better as the game went on but the 1st period really sunk the team.

Was at fault on the one goal and could have eaten a couple more but didn't with poor rebound control.

Ranger and Franson both individually gave up the puck leading to breakways?!? Did anyone mention that?

LOL! This team won't ever improve until management wakes up and the Franchise stops taking the fans for granted. This team always has too many scrubs for their dmen. The team is crap overall defensively but they are slow and have low hockey IQs without the puck. They're not a playoff team.

He's obviously overlooked the fact that both our goalies have a high GAA, yet good SV% considering the Leafs give up the most shots/game, and that the goalies with a low GAA happen to be on teams that are good defensively (MIN, LA, STL, TB, BOS)

it really does boggle my mind how clarkson can be such a black hole to this team.

even on routine plays like when he dumps it in or standing in front of the net.

That depends, do you think crappy goalies carry their team in the playoffs?

Reimer choked game 7 so hard that they needed to get a number 1 goalie.

I'm just happy that Nonis and Carlyle realize Reimer is hot garbage too.

Playing in front of Reimer has got to be a terrifying experience for any defenseman or forward. First of all, you don't know if you're going to get Hasek Reimer or Peter Ing Reimer from game to game. Secondly, you have no idea how he'll react to any shot play to play. Is he going to miss catching the puck, punch it into the slot, or hold on for a faceoff? What's the routine when his belly is planted on the ice and the puck is just beyond him? You're kind of stuck scrambling around and collapsed in front of your net putting out one fire after another. So stressful.

I think he meant that this is a kind of team that just squeaks into the playoffs but doesn't do any real damage there. I tend to agree as we have the deficiencies in our play today as we did in game #1 of this season. We're passable, but obviously, fans want better than a team that gets kicked out of the first round.

How is it Reimers fault that the defense continuously allows cross crease passes.

on 2 of 3 goals, Riemer had no chance

I talked about this in another thread but this teams lack of puck support is hilarious. You want to be a good team in the defensive and neutral zones, you need to manage the puck efficiently and that means tons of support on the puck. Allows you to make small high effieciency pass's or dumps off the boards rather then long low % pass's. This team doesnt support the puck well enough and this leads lots of giveaways and possesion to the other team. A really subtle skill to being a strong 3 zone hockey team but this team is both bad at this aspect and also weak in backpressure and closing gaps.

You can blame Randy all you want but alot of this teams defensive deficiencies are because we have tons of defensively challenged and/or soft forwards.

Oh yeah, the experience is SO terrifying that he only has a 64-41-26 record while in net!

The team is so terrified that they've played at a 96-97 pt pace while he's been the goalie.

If anything, it must be a terrifying experience for Reimer for playing behind such a garbage defensive team for pretty much his entire career. I mean imagine having only 2 defenseman who can actually give you a consistent performance from game to game for the majority of the time that you have been here, hell it still is that way right now tbh.

I agree, there are not many on this roster that I would call good or great defensive players.
