My favorite thing about Journey is the way they invented air keyboards, which looks like a kitty.

Gotta love the 80s! I hated them (musically) at the time because I was a young kid playing drums and most 80s music was all synth pop stuff with electronic drums. I instead primarily listened to 60s and 70s stuff and heavy metal.

These days I love it for the nostalgia, for having a lot of that 80s pop as a background soundtrack to my youth when I had no cares in the world. I have no idea why, but years ago when I was slogging up the side of a mountain the chorus of the song "Break my Stride" popped into my head, and it's an earworm that continues to pop into my head whenever my ass is dragging while I'm slogging up the side of a mountain!

I just like the past however many loss PGTs where the usual lickboot suspects are not here with "stop complaining, we are winning you dumbass, how many Jack Adams nominations do you have" responses to you

Almost like "will you stop being a fan" took an ironic turn
And "We're winning so we don't need to fix problems" became "We're losing so we need to blow up absolutely everything" really quick.

From one radical opinion to the opposite. That's the problem with judging strictly based on results and ignoring the process.

I miss that 80's Flyer defence and speed/tenacity up front

I became a fan during the '87 playoffs...watching many games on Prism then and afterward.

I wish I could go back to myself at 12 years old and tell me to root for a different team!

Team has been great TBH this past decade has been the most frustrating. 6 SC Finals and how close the team has been to winning, how unlucky they've been with key injuries, Deaths. It's crazy. team and fan base deserve better luck but that's life I guess lol

2004 was the heartbreaker for me. If they just had ONE healthy regular defenseman to add in the ECFs...

2010 was awesome because it was so unexpected. I think I enjoyed the run and coming back against Boston more than anything. The finals...well...goaltending was a mess. Like everyone other than Kane and Leighton, it took me 2 or 3 seconds to register that the Cup-winning goal went in. Little did I know that since then the playoffs would be an every other year thing, with no real chance of contending.

Being a fan for 34ish years now, I don't expect much. If they win a Cup before I die I hope I'm still ambulatory and can attend the parade.

yup 2 cups in nearly 50 years or whatever doesn't seem great but they've lost in the finals to several dynasties. Seems like in the late 1990s/early 2000s they'd always lose to the team winning the cup or at least going to the finals. Last 10 years? Putrid mediocrity.

Cap'n, Don Henley's (solo) cover of Leonard Cohen's Everybody Knows should be right up your alley. One of the darkest, most cynical songs I have every enjoyed. It was the hidden track on his Actual Miles solo album.

I agree that it is dark and cynical ear poison, Bern. I like his cheesy singles for the nostalgia they inspire - "Boys of Summer," "Heart of the Matter," "Last Worthless Evening" and "End of the Innocence" - even thought they are ostensibly somewhat terrible, but otherwise I find him hugely self-indulgent.

boys of Summer is the only good one you listed....i mean one that i will actually listen to..though i am starting to come around on the The Atari's version

Glen had some good ones but again..not enough to listen t o an entire album

as for the whole Eagles thing..can live with them but it is a very rare occasion i go out of my way to listen to them..but in regard to Lebowski..thme over CCR any day of the week
