I'd advise you to check his stats this year compared to his peers. Miller hasn't been "one of the best in the league" since his Vezina season.

Not to mention the difference between an elite goaltender and an average goaltender ends up being one less goal allowed every 7 or 8 games. It's not enough difference to warrant paying one of them a ton of money.

Sure he has... if you look at the numbers of all the other goalies in that time period.

The fact that Goaltenders have great years for one year then disappear doesn't discount the fact that Miller has been just below the Lundquist and Rinnes..

Miller is cosistently good.

Okay, check the other two years prior.

He's been one of the top goalies in the league over the past 5 years, consistently either one tier below the 3-4 elites or right with them. He's not a one year wonder which is what a lot of the guys who rank ahead of him in a given year are. I want consistency from my starter, he gives that.

Overall, taking his entire career into consideration Miller has been average to a hair above average. Some highs, some lows. That's not a knock against Miller at all. If the team in front of him was slightly above average, the Sabres could have done some damage in the playoffs. Miller is pretty consistent. Consistently average. And that's ok. Average is not a bad word, except on HF.

Weber/Kaleta/Foligno together have more hits than the entire Devils team combined. :amazed:

Eh, the Sabres are still too light of a team to play against. On defense, there is a big drop in contact from Weber down to Myers now that Regehr is gone. Up front, as always, it's a thin cast of characters who willingly take the body from night to night. Too much of Regier's "play out of character" crap.

Shortie. Wow, Zubrus schooling them all. Ennis with a flamingo and Ehrhoff defending no one as well. Christ.

"against Ron Rolston's team" sounds pretty weird still.

Hearing about "Trimming an unruly bush" every commercial break sounds pretty weird too.
