Wild.com Preview said:Season series: Mikko Koivu had a goal and an assist when the Minnesota Wild won 3-1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 2 at Xcel Energy Center. Charlie Coyle had two assists for the Wild. Jonathan Bernier made 26 saves for Toronto.
Wild team scope: Minnesota did not practice Sunday after a 6-3 win against the St. Louis Blues in St. Paul, Minn., on Saturday. The Wild open a two-game road trip against the Maple Leafs; Minnesota will head to Long Island on Tuesday for the second of back-to-back games against the New York Islanders. Forward Ryan Carter, who has been out since Feb. 9 with an upper-body injury, could return at some point on the trip, although Tuesday in New York seems more likely. Goaltender Devan Dubnyk will get his 32nd consecutive start Monday. Depending on his work load, he could also get the nod Tuesday. Dubnyk hasn’t missed a start since being acquired from the Arizona Coyotes on Jan. 14, including four sets of back-to-back games. The Wild are 1-6-0 all-time at Air Canada Centre.
Maple Leafs team scope: Toronto did not practice Sunday after a 5-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday. The Maple Leafs signed undrafted free agent Casey Bailey to a two-year, entry-level contract. Bailey scored 22 goals and 40 points in 37 games with Penn State this season and it's likely he will make his debut sometime in the next week. Expect goaltender Jonathan Bernier to get the start. Bernier made 21 saves on 22 shots in relief of James Reimer on Saturday. Bernier is 3-2-3 with a 1.34 goals-against average and .948 save percentage in eight career games against the Wild.
