so since the decision to go with Nikishin was pretty overwhelming, starting here. Will unlock for discussion once the poll is ready.

also - yeah this is out of order in terms of names because we literally have more prospects than we have allowed slots - so I made some executive decisions to fit in FUS, Vondras, and a couple others, the missing guys will be added in as we go.

I went with Nadeau and was considering both Morrow and Pono. I definitely consider guys I think for sure are going to make it to some level but maybe don’t have the same ceilings. The next pick will be tough for me.

This is such an insane and deep prospect pool lol. Not a lot separating the next 4 or 5 guys. Then I have a feeling after this “tier” there won’t be a lot separating the next 15 or so…

I went FUS. Getting that kid where we did is just theft.

Unger Sorum is my #3, to be fair. He definitely could still rise up my charts. I still think that, from a roster management standpoint, Morrow is the more important prospect as of now. Having two spots instead of one spot occupied by young, home-grown D helps keep our wagon churning.

I'd be lying if I said I had any clue after Nikishin. But I want to participate, so I'm going with Trikozov. Because, cmon, his first name is Gleb!
I liked him a lot his draft year and great name, unfortunately not the greatest last couple years for him. But it can definitely take time to break out in the Russian leagues, more so than other pro leagues.

I picked Pono since he seems to be the closest to becoming an actual player rather than a prospect but I could see how others (Nadaeu, Morrow, FUS) could be picked ahead of him because their potential ceilings are higher.

Yeah, that's always the fun with these things, the balance between NHL readiness and ceiling and how different people weigh them differently. And the list that results always strikes a pretty good balance.

So yeah, Pono will crack the NHL full time, probably even next season. But he's a 3rd/4th liner, so how do we weigh that against a guy who's a potential next Aho, but who could also end up as the next Tolchinsky?

Reminds me of the old Jerome Samson vs. Gregory Hofmann debate that @tarheelhockey had with someone.

In the end, Samson played one 46 NHL games, mainly because Carolina had a dearth of talent, and Hofmann played 24 game with CLB, so neither amounted to anything.

Hopefully these guys have better results
