Real nice save and effort from Waeber.

As said last night, really think we may have something in McAllister. Wicked shot here and he has decent hands/puck handling skills.
Hoping for Verhaeghe lite

Really liking the effort from DaDaviesI

I liked Waeber trying to score lol
Happy Vilmanis got a bit of respect on his name, and a hella nice shot from Bezeau.
Still hoping to see something more of Skoog, maybe next game.
Really hope McAllister keeps it up.

Waeber was a great find. Keep doing your thing, Lu. Love you. Waeber just looks like an NHL goalie. Great technique and great poise. Good movement. I have no idea who is going to the echl between him and Guzda. Charlotte may just run with 3 goalies splitting games. It's good that we are starting to build up depth in goal, though. At least at the pro level. We'll see how Gerasimyuk, Muszelik, and Glifford continue to progress.

I really like how Coughlin has played, he's been real solid. He's not that big, but he's been pretty strong defensively. He moves the puck out great on the breakout too, he moves it quickly and with purpose and it gets the transition going. Great stuff to see from a just drafted undersized D from the 6th round at this tourney. Benning is a great skater and obviously really skilled, I still don't see a real NHL D there though that is gonna play 15-20 minutes regularly. I still think he would make a great 7th D though that could be a pp specialist and plays the odd shift. In a couple years we could run 11F and 7D to accommodate him. Nause has looked pretty solid, another couple years' development in Charlotte and we'll see if he's ready to be an NHL D that will really push for a spot. I think Alscher could be right there in a couple years too. He moves pretty well for a big guy. He should add another 10-15 lbs. as he continues to fill out. He doesn't make many mistakes and that's all you want from a big defensive D whose main job at the next level will be eating pucks and dishing out crosschecks in the crease. Uens has been solid too . He's probably been the most pleasant surprise for me aside from Coughlin and Waeber.

Bezeau another guy who has impressed. I assumed he was just gonna be roster filler, but he's shown something here. I could see a guy who could be a decent all around 4th liner in 2-3 years. I wouldn't mind us signing him. Skoog has kinda been a poor man's Bezeau, hoping to see a little more from him at the double-header Monday. Davies was another great 6th round pick. He really could be another Lomberg. Everyone was saying that before, but he really has a solid package of skills and he'd fit seamlessly into Maurice's program. McAllister was a big signing for us. He may end up making up for one of the 1st rounders we moved. Vilmanis really looks good, nice blend of size, physicality, skating, and skill. Very nice. Sawchyn has the goods, he just needs more development. He's very young yet, and also needs to beef up. Schwindt has been ok. I've been a little underwhelmed though. Not even gonna get into Sourdif and Samo, they've played as expected. It's a good sign we hung with and beat Nashville's kids, even though it's only one game(And Carolina best us soundly). Preds are considered to have a top 10 prospect pool. I still think ours is underrated. If we can hit on a couple of these mid round picks and keep making good FA signings, we can really soften the blow of trading all these picks.

Waeber was very good but I would expect that from a 27 year old who’s been facing men for years, playing in a rookie tourney.

I'll be shocked if Samoskevich doesn't snag a spot on the NHL roster, unless they prefer he plays top 6 minutes in AHL vs 10-13 mins a game in NHL

Sounds like he's impressing. I think another year in the AHL makes sense to give him more seasoning, but he's probably earned more of a roster spot than Denisenko.

I still think he needs a year in the A. His game is not polished at all. If he starts in the nhl he'll take a lot of penalties and get beat defensively quite often. He may get 9 games.

Isn’t Samo too old for the less than 10 games contract slide? (Saying nothing about whether he should or shouldn’t go to the A)

Our goalie excellence department is doing a great job. Both Guzda and Waeber looked like very calm technically sound goalies. Very good to know that it seems we got some depth there.

Our rookie depth though on the D side looks very bleak. Benning seems to be the only prospect with a creative side and some skill. I would have loved to see some more of Kinnunen. But it feels like he is not considered a prospect anymore by the trainer team so he will get a better look in training camp (maybe he will be the one righthanded Dman to get some time to cover for missing Ek and Monty in the beginning instead of Benning?).
Uens and Nause look very raw. Alscher looks pretty solid back there.

Amongst the forwards, the obvious one is Samo who brings the most creativity and the best snipe. Sourdif also with some very nice creative plays/passes. I liked Giles very much, should be a good fit for 3rd/4th line duties in the future. The rest of the forwards seem quite dull skillwise. Wise with some suprising glimpses, and Davies maybe another Lomberg.

The most important feeling to me though after these games was to notice that all of the players seem very composed, no matter what the score is or under what pressure they are under. They have faith in the goalies and stick to their play. Very professional already. But we lack in the skill department

Ya it seems like Luongo and Zito have committed to drafting a goalie every year now or at least signing a college/Europe free agent to keep the pond stocked.

As for Kinnunen, he had a pretty awesome rookie year in Charlotte and was a highlight on back end. I'd expect with Kinnear running the ship again, he gets a couple more minutes a game to see where his ceiling is.

I really like what I saw from Uens, very simple plays, will shoot if given opportunity l, otherwise he is positioned well in DZ and will be interested to follow his year in AHL.
I think we should hope for one decent bottom pair guy in Uens, Ludvig and Alscher.
As for Benning, he should look to Forsling for some guidance in terms of protecting himself and maybe learn some of the two way ability Gus has.

The forwards seem to have high compete and strong forecheck which is great to see. Really liked top end talent from the obvious: Samo, Sourdif, Mcallister etc.
As for bottom 6 potential: Wise, Giles, Vilmanis, Skoog and Davies should produce one or two options in a few years.

Just got the AHL TV email and I keep saying I'll buy it every year but definitely more excited and curious to buy it this year with the climb and success Charlotte is starting to show last few seasons.

As for the worry of high end skill on forward or defense, we pretty much only need a few complimentary players inserted year by year as most of out forward core is signed for a 3+ years?
One or both of Verhaeghe and Reinhart likely get signed, Luostarinen and Lundell are here for a while as well.

As for defense, we likely sign two of Forsling, Ekblad and Montour long term and honestly think one of Mahura, Benning will stay with team for a next 4-5 years.
