It was a bit of a fluff article.

Nurmi just talks about his road back from knee surgery and the current situation his Liiga team finds itself in.

Should they not make the playoffs, he'll then likely end the season with the club's U20 team, which is in the playoffs.

Interesting is that the Isles were over there several times, including after his knee surgery and apparently actively took part in designing a specific workout routine during his rehab.

The article also mentions that there is no intention to think about an ECL (by either party) until at least after next season. Pretty standard, especially with him basically having missed this season.

HockeyAllsvenskan update:
- The regular season is over and although Calle Odelius' Djurgarden is firmly in the playoffs as the 4th placed team, he still has not returned to the line-up. It's become a completely lost season. After his injury in the fall, the expectation was that he'd be back in the first half of February. It's March 9th and still no Odelius.
- Alex Ljungkrantz' Almtuna just barely made it into the pre-playoffs as the 9th seed. Unfortunately, Alex was called back up to Färjestad 4 games ago. I say "unfortunately", because he's only seen 0:53 of playing time in the past 3 games. Seems like a waste for a kid who was a first liner for an Almtuna team that desperately needed him in the line-up while trying to sneak into the playoffs. Hopefully they're sending him back down for the pre-playoff round, which is winnable. And I sure as heck hope this isn't a sign of things to come for Ljungkrantz as part of Färjestad next season when his contract with them kicks in. If there should be any reason to believe it is, the Isles have got to get him out of there.
- Good Bogg has been with many teams this winter. He was most recently lent out to Östersund, which is now in the relegation round. The good news is that he's gotten between 10:21 and 20:07 minutes of ice time in the 8 games he's played there. The bad news is that the only time you notice him in highlights is when the opposition is scoring and he's in the middle of it. In total, he's gotten into 18 Allsvenskan games and has 3 assists and a-3.

I think our prospect pool has improved dramatically in the LL era.

Not so much in that the players improved statistically, but they seem more confident that they are going to get a decent look, under LL. We all know that sports are 90% mental, so it is wise to consider that side of the development process.

And as someone mentioned previously, a coaching change always seems to lift the players spirits, believing that they will get a better look.

again, even under my conceptions that this team isn't great with drafting, they can find decent role players at the very least. I think that the isles could flub a few picks, then find someone like a Raty or Tikkanen or George or Maggio, then continue to keep them for asset flips. They have managed to get better as time progresses under Lou. I just wish some of them at least make the NHL to some degree.

Anything is possible, but the law of averages generally has traditionally had teams turning out less than 2 players per draft in some regular capacity.

But I can see a lot of these kids scratching the surface to the NHL in some capacity.

MacLean has looked fantastic as a lower line guy and he wasn't even one of the draft picks. And while Salo, Koivula, Hutton, and Cholowski (not really guys we look at as prospects) have all gotten looks at the NHL level, it does seem likely that each of Iskhakov, Maggio, Dufour, Liukas, and perhaps even Tikkanen will as well.

Nelson, Berg, Jefferies, Odelius, Finley, and George all seem to be looking like players who will be NHL issues at some point in the next 5 years.

If I would have to guess, I'd say I don't think UFAs think too much about the farm system when picking their new team each and every summer. Sure, if a club seems to have a half dozen blue chippers and there's a lot of buzz around it, that MIGHT play a bit of a role for a guy here or there in determining whether he's joining a team with upside, as long as the $$$ in play are the same for several organizations looking to grab their services.

But for now, any guy coming here as a UFA is going to be looking at our current stars, our coaching staff, and the competitive capabilitiy this team shows at the NHL level.

I guess a 27 year old free agent would see things differently than a 35 year old. If I'm a 27 year old player looking to sign with a different team, I think it would be important to know that they have a good development system for the kids coming up. I would look at every aspect of the organization.

If I were a 35 year old and looking to catch lightning in a bottle, yeah I wouldn't even think about that.

At this point, I will just take signing him even if they have to burn the first year this year.

If anything, that may force the organization to make a decision on him quicker than the typical over marinating of prospects we are used to. Get guys in, see if there is something there, if not move on to the next guy.

Merrimack's season is over, I would like to see us sign Jeffries soon.

He may have eye towards UFA, four year player who went back to help Merrimack have good year. They fell off and he had injury filled year.

Players usually do that when they feel they don’t have a future role or feel they should immediately be in the NHL. Jeffries will need a year at least in the AHL and scoring wingers are what the Isles need, especially on the left side.

He mostly played center this year at least in the four or five games I saw him play. He didnt scream out ready NHLer to me so your right Ahl is probably his path but wonder if he figures might as well get to August and become UFA and sign with whomever I want and may have clearer and quicker path NHL(sharks, hawks etc.). I don’t know though, I’d think isles would want to sign him immediately and get him some time in Ahl now.
