It's a known fact that Gonzaga is dissatisfied with the WCC.
They could get out if the following happens:
The Big East splits into two conferences along geographic lines, the Northeast schools keep the Big East name and legacy and add Duquesne, La Salle, and Saint Joseph's from the A-10 and Iona from the MAAC.
The Midwestern schools form a new conference that also includes Dayton, Loyola (Chicago) and Saint Louis from the A-10, Detroit Mercy from the Horizon, Valparaiso from the MVC, and Gonzaga and Saint Mary's from the WCC.
This new conference would be an attempt to start a largely-Midwestern basketball conference of comparable strength to the Big Ten, and could replace the Big Ten on ESPN next year.
Meanwhile the WCC, having already lost BYU, would not be the same once Gonzaga and Saint Mary's leave.
