The teams faced off 9 times in the '22-'23 regular season, and another 8 times during the '23-'24 regular season. Methinks their "instant rivalry" predates this playoff series.

I can't tell you how many fans and even players said they wouldn't consider it a rivalry until that issue was cleared up. Amazing.
