No source provided but this twitter account often just re-posts Russian telegram posts into English on twitter, more or less.

Kinda scary. That Ilya Fedotov (the goalie) is allowed to flout the system in Russia and yet Duda is basically held hostage. Not even allowed to play American junior hockey in the USHL.

well, Simashev 4+ min TOI and But again with the shutout, 0 min TOI

Glad to see these guys are getting quality mins haha
It’s how it works. And it makes sense. Who is Yaroslavl Lokomotiv developing these players for? Certainly not Yaroslavl Lokomotiv. They play on one of the 3 best teams in the 2nd best league in the world. It’s about winning. Neither player factors into the long term plans of the franchise. They’ll both be in over in North American after next season. Doesn’t make sense to invest too heavily in them.

No, I get it...but still hoping for more mins than they're actually getting.

Also a risk in drafting them, right? Lots of unknowns about how and when they can come over etc,

I don’t think there’s too much risk or too much unknown. If they don’t sign an extension they’re ours in two years. If they do sign an extension that sucks big-time but we have their rights in perpetuity. NCAA might be a bigger risk.

If But and Simashev can’t get regular minutes they’ll likely be assigned to Perm of the VHL. Or maybe back to the MHL. It’s pretty common for recently drafted 1st and 2nd rounders to spend their D+1 year in equal parts KHL, VHL, and MHL. Which is ok.
