Nice setup there by Beniers... weird shot. Beniers going to be a Barzal level zone entry guy. He's Zegras level good at it.

I can't tell who's who with the USA setup half the time.

Is it just me or does it seem like every single WJC team worse than last years?

Canada- bit worse
US- much worse
Sweden- better
Finland- idk, better?
Russia- don’t follow Russians enough to comment, seems maybe not quite as good
Slovakia- much better, mostly through development though
Czechs- better mostly through development?
Austria- worse
Germany- Much worse
Swiss- idk

USA could really use Jacob Perreault....
Perreault and Bordeleau would give this team such a face lift that I would honestly be pumping them up as contenders for going back to back, with out them all this team really has is a strong D-core and some good players dotted around the line up

Short of drawing a penalty or miraculously scoring in his limited toi I can’t see pastujov being able to change his position on this team.

zegras had to be that good just to get regular minutes in his first wjc
Yeah, Zegras had to create prime chances almost every other shift to be put in Top9 only AFTER the group phase, lol.

I remember Johnny Gaudreau had to crawl his way out in his tournament as well, years back. Seems to be a thing with USA Hockey

Digging into some comparables, we're going to have to be patient with MacT's offense in the NHL level.

Jamie Benn - Took til 20 to make an impact
Joe Pavelski - Didn't even make NHL until 22
Mark Stone - Took til 22 to make an impact
Ryan O'reilly - Took til 20 to make an impact
Ryan Kesler - Took til 23/24 to make offensive impact
Nazem Kadri - Took til 22 to make an impact

Be encouraged by what we're seeing. But don't jump off the 415 section railing onto the ice if he doesn't put up 50 points next season in Anaheim. I think it's unlikely he does

Pastujov is pretty high on both of these (just a notch below Michkov in expected points) despite playing 6 minutes. These dont seem to be /60 numbers, seems like he should be playing more. Its anecdotal and obviously I'm looking for him out there but it felt like he made at least one dangerous play every time he was out there.

Getzy and Pears took until 20 to even debut as well. Then manhandled AHL and solid play in the NHL
I would even like to keep McT in OHL next year :)

I would rather they do that than rush him that's for sure.
