Think we need another topic, to separate those 2021 and 2022 draft discussions.

1. Wright
2. Lambert
3. Savoie

This has been the consensus for a while.

I'm not too worried about that LD anymore. Think this 2021 will be our goalie draft (Wallstedt) and 2022 for C (Wright/Lambert).

It's an Eichel to McDavid deal again in 2022 in my opinion. Not making that mistake again, Wright is my #1 in their year.

I'd be more than happy with Beniers in this draft. Then if we get a chance at another top forward in 22 we could always trade Mantha for a top 4 LD

I don’t know. Lambert is looking like he could steal the #1 slot from Wright. The kid is looking like a phenom.

Yeah I think Detroit is happy getting either but this is another situation where Wright is just dominant in every facet. Honestly, hes probably closer to Eichel than he is McDavid at his best but hes a frnachise guy that comes around once every 5 years or so at most. Lambert is gonna be a complete stud though and youre getting a franchise guy either way, Wright is just ahead

Im not so sure Lambert is that close right now to the #1 spot. The rookie season Wright just had puts him on the McDavid/Crosby trajectory. Obviously things can, and probably will change in 2 seasons, but Wright looks like a franchise player similar to those two guys. Lambert seems to have a huge potential also, but its tougher to predict coming from the Europe, thus I have Wright ahead of him. I think any of us would love to get either of these guys in Detroit. Hopefully Detroit can get some lottery luck in a couple years, I think we're due for some.

Doubt it. Everything I read about Wright has him as the runaway leader for top spot. Also like to point out, his first year OHL production was on pace with McDavid in his first season. Wright was also on a pretty bad team as Kingston was terrible.

Get another look at Lambert today. After that watch Slafkovsky VS Canada. 16 y/o winger already 6'4" 210+, I don't think things will go well for SVK but I think he's going to be a beast for 2022.

i predict it’ll be a two man race between lambert and wright. I think savoie will fall outside the top 5

I really don't think anyone is going to challenge Wright. One of the things missing when you talk about Wright besting McDavid and Tavares offensively at the same age is he might already be one of the very best two-way forwards in the CHL already. I am actually a little stunned he isn't on Team Canada, he is one of their best 12 forwards already at the U-20 age in my opinion. I get they don't like to do that, I think he starts being the best player in the OHL this year if we have a season.

I like Lambert a lot, would be thrilled to pick second as well if we cannot get #1. But Wright for me is in a special tier. As I said yesterday I made the mistake of hoping Eichel was closer to McDavid than he is and Eichel is a top 10 player in the league, he just isn't McDavid. I think Wright is the next top 3 superstar guy. He is the one that will challenge McDavid and MacKinnon as they get older. Just such a special talent and a really complete player at 16 already.

I also think Wright will be the biggest stud for a while at MacKinnon, McDavid level. More of stylistic MacKinnon, with better playmaking. But not as playmaker like McDavid.

70% MacKinnon, 30% McDavid -hybrid.

Lambert also would sure #1 for 2021 draft, if born few months earlier...

Picking top 3 in 2022 is going to be an even bigger no-brainer than 2020. Three potential franchise centers, which includes one player that has McDavid/MacKinnon potential. It's pretty much a slam dunk no matter which way things shake out, as I'm a big believer in all three kids. That said, I'm almost 100% certain the Wings will not be picking top 3 just because they are cursed when it comes to the lottery. I refuse to be excited by the prospect of getting one of Wright, Lambert or Savoie until after the lottery is finished and not a moment earlier.

It's also a damn pity that Canada is so deep in talent, that guys like Shane Wright can join to World Juniors on early age.

Like, there should be some fun rule for weak countries to draft few (like 5) extra canadians, left outside from canadian national 1st team. Would be so much better tournament. :)

All I know about the 2022 draft is the three-headed monster of Wright, Lambert, and Savoie that people say are going to go top-3. But since it is most likely the Wings will not be picking-top-3, I don't really care about those three. Who are the best candidates for the 4-6 slots? Any other good centers/LHD/goalies?

I am actually looking forward to it, but I will use any excuse to use a Caddyshack Gif.

Poor guy... that Jack Hughes replica.

Top10 has 8 right handnesses... this has been the case I did find out a while ago. It will fix our Rh problems, because almost all top guys are righties. 80% chance to get one. We don't need to reach to get one, it just happens as being the BPA.

The defence is already in nice shape (Hronek, Seider + others) and also there's Raymond and Niederbach. Going on right direction, finally just to have a good balance.

I expect Ryan Chesley to shoot up the '22 rankings soon. He's been electric for the NTDP U17s this year. Really well-rounded RHD.

I'm not sure I see anyone cracking the top 2 of Wright/Lambert, but after that I definitely see room for arguments. Savoie's speed and skill is enticing for sure, but at his size I could see where scouts might prefer a player like McGroarty or Chesley.

Seattle is in next years draft. Buffalo is nuclear disaster. Seider will be here improving our defense. I think his style of play will improve the entire moral of our team. Blashill will be gone ( maybe ). I don’t think we will be in the top three picks unless the lottery does us some favours for once

You have to think about who the goalie will be. If Bernier is gone, then this team will be at the bottom of the league.

A lot of young guys playing next year as well.

Agreed I see us creeping up a few spaces next year and picking 4/5. If we get any significant additions to the roster next year, we’re toast as far as a 1OA goes. We might not even pick 1OA this year. We’re in an odd spot.
