The younger brother of Seattle Kraken forward Morgan Geekie, Conor Geekie was drafted in the first round, second overall, by the Winnipeg Ice in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft. This season he scored 24 goals and 46 assists for 70 points in 63 games. He also added 49 minutes in penalties and was an incredible +46 this year. Geekie added two goals and six assists for eight points in nine playoff games so far. Geekie also played in the CHL Top Prospects Game.
In 2020-21, while the WHL season was delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Geekie joined the Virdin Oil Capitals in the MJHL. He put up one goal and three assists for four points in nine games. Once the WHL season got started he played in 24 games for the Winnipeg Ice. Geekie scored nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 24 games. He also played seven games for the Ice in the 2019-20 season.

27 is a late enough first to be effectively a second depending on how your board is set up.
Yeah but that was like a swap pick to 11, and then actual cost of that swap was the 2 seconds.

Been pretty busy, but still browse through here every now and then to see who's still around on Forum 40.
I remember about 10 months ago if we missed Wright then Cooley OR Geekie was our next best option for a C. Can't believe we now have both.

Strome is an NHL player, not what we wanted but he's in the show. Geekie was selected by a staff I have significantly more faith in too, even if I don't initially care much for the player.
Strome likes to slow the whole game down with the puck on his stick. It worked a lot better in OHL than NHL. Geekie will play a fast paced, intense game with the puck.
Geekie's biggest weakness is his tendency to become disengaged. It's something that needs to be sorted out for sure. I think if he can be thrust into the 1C role next season in the WHL then he might step up his engagement.
