Wow, that’s surprising to hear. Granted I haven’t watched either player at all...

just that some rankings have Lysell in the top 10 and Chibrikov is in the 20s mostly

Lysell's definitely talented. Great skater, great hands, but his management of the puck is a little worrisome. I actually think he's more dynamic than Chibrikov. When he's on, he's flashy. He could definitely out grow that puck management flaw. Sweden's system is strong. Like I said before, you could get a Marner from this kid or a Drouin.

Chibrikov is less flash, but brings similar skills, and is just smarter with a better overall game.

Both are about the same size too.

It'll be interesting to follow their careers.

I think Chibrikov can be a Palat type. If Lysell can become Marner/Gaudreau like, you take that before Palat.

But, if he's Drouin like, you definitely take Palat.

So yeah scouts dilemma.

Is it the skating?

He isn't showing anything special. Behrens is small, but he's a great skater, great hands & is involved. Savage is a leader, great on faceoffs, a defensive specialist. Gallagher is a hard worker, strong skater, great shot.

Pastujov isn't showing any great skill, skating or otherwise. He's not involved. He's supposed to be a good playmaker, but he hasn't impressed with that and he's not getting shots off.

Don't see 1st round talent.

Granted the Czechs play a hard defensive game. It's NHL like, so it's a good perspective on who can survive in that atmosphere and who can't. Behrens, Gallagher, Savage can. Pastujov can't. He's been kept to & has stayed on the outside and hasn't been able to create anything.

There's still 3rd period though. US needs to step it up. Too many perimeter players.

Jiricek hits the post off a faceoff. US goalie Mbereko stretches out for the save and pulls something. He's out.

Gibson Homer is in.

Actually, on replay, Pastujov didn't get a great shot off but got it off quickly and goalie was still moving, so he showed quick hands.

According to the pbp guy, Lane Hutson is bigger than Quinn Hughes was at the same age. Hutson is a 2022 & is a Hughes type D. Can really set up plays & transition.
