This sucks for Logan Mailoux as well. By selecting him anyway, the Habs will make it seem like he's avoiding the responsibility and that him renouncing himself from the draft was just a ploy. He, or his victim, now may never be able to move on from this.

Mailloux wasn't even a consensus first-round pick, most likely an early-mid second round draftee.

It was a terrible pick all around.

Jersey's GM seems drunk.

of course he was, the pick was made for us when we won the fourth overall in the lottery

the 4th pick was the most easily deduced pick in the draft, and scouts make the 29th
