Rank. Name, Pos (%), change from last year
1. Quinton Byfield, F (98.6%), +0
2. Brandt Clarke, D (43.3%), NR

+ Francesco Pinelli, F

Last year's rankings for comparisons (and what I'm referencing for "change of last year").

Let's form our own opinions as far as the most valuable prospects. Here are the rules I'll be following:

- I won't vote unless it's a tie breaker. So there should never be an "overtime" or tie to keep this going.
- the crieteria for prospects is straightforward: they have to be eligible to win the calder, and the Kings must own the player's rights, whether it's through the draft or an SPC (so AHL-only contracts don't count, but a player like Tkachev counts, since he is Calder-eligible)
- feel free to make a nomination after voting. Again, in the event of a tie, I'll be the tie breaker.

I'll always list the candidates in alphabetical order. By default, I'm setting the timer at 24 hours, as I hope to go through the entire list. The first list is who I'm guessing will be among the most popular, but obviously players will be missed as I'm only starting out with 10.

List of eligible players to be nominated:
Brayden Burke, F
Martin Chromiak, F
Alexander Dergachyev
Braden Doyle, D
Aidan Dudas, F
Sean Durzi, D
Samuel Helenius, F
David Hrenak, G
Jacob Ingham, G
Aatu Jamsen, F
Kirill Kirsanov, D
Alex Laferriere, F
Andre Lee, F
Juho Markkanen, G
Ben Meehan, D
Jacob Moverare, D
Kim Nousiainen, D
Lukas Parik, G
Markus Phillips, D
Bulat Shafigullin, F
Kasper Simontaival, F
Jordan Spence, D
Austin Strand, D
Johan Sodergran, F
Vladimir Tkachev, F
Matthew Villalta, G

Once again went Kaliyev. Drafted in the same year as Turcotte, scored more points and ppg and projects as a 1st line winger and PP specialist. Turcotte projects as a 2C/top 6 2-way player.

Turcotte probably has the higher upside, but again I’d like to point out the Kaliyev has developed more than any other prospect.

I really believe that Kaliyev is the better prospect. He is the best goal scorer in the farm.

Turcotte, and now the adds get challenging...let's say add Spence.

I think the last two of this tier is Turc and Kaliyev and it's a hard choice either way.

I DO think Kaliyev has done everything asked of him and more. Turcotte has had his injury issues continue and that's troubling--but I still think he has a higher ceiling than any remaining prospect, dude just oozes Richards/Toews and we know what that can mean to a championship team. I also think he's much more skilled than people will give him credit for.

Oh, and a vote to remove Kupari.

My criteria is if they're Calder eligible next season. Kupari is.

For clarity, the criteria is:
- they must be 25 or younger by September 15
- they can't play 6+ NHL games 2 seasons in a row (he only played 7 last year)
- they can't have played more than 25 games in a single season

Whether or not Kupari is on my top-10 list, he's a popular player who could be on top lists due to pedigree.

I figure it's the most fair way to set a cut off for prospects. This includes Tkachev, but rules out players like Bjornfot/Anderson/Vilardi/JAD who have, for all intents and purposes, graduated.

If you're voting to remove him from the list of candidates, I figure the votes will do the work for me.

Add Kirsanov. Played regular minutes as an 18 yo in the KHL and showed he’s capable of more while playing against his age group.

Could see arguments to add Spence, Simontaival, Chromiak, or Helenius as well.

I am just mouthing off.

Dude isn't in our top ten anymore but will likely be voted in regardless.

Still Turcotte, but definitely not upset at Clarke or Kaliyev being above him. They're all insane prospects to not have at #1.

Add Chromiak, I think he was such a steal of a pick, can't believe we got him in the fifth round.

He led the Reign in scoring most of last season after an injury-shortened rookie campaign. What has he done (or not done) to not be one of our ten best prospects? What more could we have asked of him?

I guess I said it in the #2 prospect thread. Kalyev might win a Richard and will certainly score more goals but Turcotte is the kind of guy that wins a Conn Smythe. Turcotte is my #3 prospect and is a hairs breadth from being my #2.

Kaliyev’s 14 goals were tied for second amongst first-year skaters in the AHL this season, while he ranked fourth in total points and tied for fifth in assists. The rookie winger also ranked inside the league’s Top-10 in goals overall, tied for ninth amongst all players. The Tashkent, Uzbekistan native finished the season on a four-game scoring streak and had 12 points (6-6-12) from his final 10 games played. In total, Kaliyev recorded multiple points in a game nine times as a rookie, including a pair of three-point efforts.

“Hats off to him for his dedication, and even when pucks weren’t going in for him, he was frustrated with that,” Wroblewski added. “He didn’t change his game. He didn’t revert back to junior habits. He just kept pushing for the end. He has faith in the system, and the work ethic that he was putting in has been commendable.”

This is not a knock against Turcotte, but Arty has put up points at every level and is something this Kings team has severely lacked.

Turcotte needs to be healthy. I love his leadership and ability to driving the play on his line, but it seems like every season or two this kid is hurt.

Just keeping a tally of "add x" to this list as we're starting to see more variance. If I missed any, I apologize. If you suggested multiples I'll use that as a tiebreaker before breaking a tie myself.

Spence: 7
Chromiak: 1
Strand: 1
Nousiainen: 3
Kirsanov: 1
