World Juniors have gotten sort of boring the past few years, at least the pre-lims. Way too many blowouts, and they don't even have the decency to start that way, it takes a full period of close hockey for one of the teams to break.

Word is talented 2021 draft eligible Jesper Wallstedt will start in goal tonight for Sweden against Russia. Bob McKenzie had him ranked 14th on his early 2021 rankings from 2 weeks ago. That means Sweden is resting Alnefelt for the 2nd game of their back-to-back when they have to play the US tomorrow night.

Russia wins it in OT with 5 seconds left. Russia only gets 2pts for the win instead of 3 because it went to OT, so Sweden still has a chance to win the group tomorrow.

Groshev didn't touch the ice for the 3 on 3 OT.

This was his best chance to score back in the 2nd period. Once again, he's had plenty of good looks, he just can't seem to pot one.

I don’t think so. I didn’t see anything, nothing was reported, and TSN didn’t catch anything either. He didn’t leave the bench and he was on the ice afterwards for the anthem. When they took him off his line in the 2nd period and swapped him with Firstov, and he joined Safonov and Spiridonov, I didn’t see the whole line for a while in the 3rd. And then at the end, they made another change and put Spiridonov with Bardakov and Ponomaryov. It looks like they benched him but I don’t know why. As far as I could see, he didn’t do anything egregious. There was no broadcast highlight of anything that stuck out. And they shortened the bench while already missing 2 of their top 6 guys in Chinakhov and Abramov. Unless Larionov just lost track of his bench
