So, uh… close this one early?
Ok who DID’NT vote Holtz…There is always one or two of your guys who go against the grain for the sake of going against the grain lol . Even though Holtz has a “meh” season he still has tons more offensive skill than Foote ( who received the “highest” amount of non Holtz votes ) . I’m not sure if those two votes are because they are really high on Foote or really disappointed in Holtz but to each their own that’s the entire point of doing this . I love hearing what other Devil fans think

I like people going off the board, makes it interesting. You COULD just click on the # of votes in the poll and it'll show you who voted for the player.
It's always fun to see names of lurkers here

Ya, surprised by the reactions, there are some players on that list.At least we got some decent NHL players off that list, including one top 6 kid who is ranked below all these guys.
I think I am going Stillman next as well. Getting the feeling folks are really underrating the kid
And Coleman was fresh out of college and had just signed his Entry Level deal when that list was made.Ya, surprised by the reactions, there are some players on that list.
I think draft position anti-bias is also a thing. Holtz had a poor +1 season, if we look at it through the lens of a top 10 pick.I can't vote for Holtz at #2 from what I saw from the WJC and Binghamton....wasn't impressed. Maybe it was all circumstances due to the year...I wouldn't even argue that point but the actual play I saw was uninspiring.
I'll take a guy with a high compete level and solid skill over the draft position bias every single time.
And Stillman is a competitor.
I think draft position anti-bias is also a thing. Holtz had a poor +1 season, if we look at it through the lens of a top 10 pick.
Consider this, Stillman in his draft year put up 4 points in 7 games at the U-18.
Holtz in his draft year put up 5 points in 7 games at the U-20. In his predraft season he put up 7 points in 7 games at the U-18.
. | Alexander Holtz (RW) | 5 | 2 | 5 | 7 |
Chase Stillman (RW) | 7 | 2 | 2 | 4 |
And Coleman was fresh out of college and had just signed his Entry Level deal when that list was made.
Him not being on that list is the epitome of the bias that happens with these things.
It should have been no surprise...Coleman was excelling. Fresh out of college with 20 goals and a point per game - There were only 14 players in the NCAA in 2015 with 20 or more goals and averaged a PPG or more. (Only 26 players in the entire NCAA Div 1 scored 20 or more goals)
And Some how an undrafted Nick freakin Lappin is 11 on that list - Blandisi at 6 is even more BS....This was when people wanted to believe what Shero touched was going to be automagically be better than the past.
Holtz was in his predraft season. In his draft season he was playing in the U-20's. As far as competition goes Holtz has always played at a higher level at similar times in their development.Consider this... One was a bottom 6 player and the other was 1st liner and feature on the PP. I don't think point difference is that great considering.
Stillman scored as many goals as Holtz at the U18 from the bottom 6....Holtz is supposed to be a goal scoring specialist...Not buying it.
