I think Svechkov projects really well as a center. I don't know if he will be there with Washington's pick or not. I don't have a good read on his ceiling though. I absolutely love Dean and Mailloux as late first, early second round options.

Scouching put out a good report on Svechkov. I don't have a good read on his ceiling either but the tools are there to be a top 6 forward. I think top 9 at worst with a great defensive toolkit. I'm having trouble finding a stylistic comparison, though.

A lot of his offense is generated from great anticipation rather than a super flashy move or a blistering shot. Watching his shift by shift stuff you can see he's able to read several moves ahead to get the puck back. Svechkov looks like the perfect forward for the Lou Lamoriello Devils; versatile, hard working, defensively responsible. One season he scores 50+ points in the top 6, the next he scores 30 points as a shut down forward with tons of PK time.

I really like his game. From what I've seen he also has some legit skill, enough that I think he could make it as a 2C if everything goes right development wise. I'd love to grab him with the Caps 1st if he was to fall.
