McDermott sold himself to Bills fans when he made the playoffs when they were supposedly rebuilding in his first year. It was a lot easier to hear the head guy sell "pain" when "pain" the year before included breaking a 18 year playoff-less streak.

I’m going more by guaranteed money, but you’re right. Any QB who plays out their full extension is getting well over $100 million.

Who says that they have to do that? They are picking up his 5th year option. Next year is only year 4. Saw what happened to LA and Phi who extended Goff and Wentz after year 3.
