Carolina is thrilled to acquire three prospects that were all on their top 50 list prior to the draft.
1st
28OA—traded to Montreal for Jayden Struble and
64OA (Oscar Plandowski). While it is always difficult to part with a 1st round pick, our team added two defensemen who combine great mobility and high-skill levels. At the risk of getting well ahead of ourselves, these two talented players could form a NHL pairing in 5 years.
2nd
52OA—acquired from Detroit for Vasili Ponomaryov. Trading the rights to a terrific prospect like Ponomaryov was painful, but our entire team had a 1st round grade on Jack Peart. We couldn't miss the opportunity to add this talented player to our defensive prospects. We think the Carolina prospect pool with the additions of Peart, Plandowski, and Struble now has as much strength in the D core as any team.
2nd
60OA—Conner Roulette is another young man we had with a 1st round grade. He is a high-energy scoring forward who we are thrilled to have in our prospect pool.
3rd
92OA—Our organization loves competitors who give their all every shift. Our favorite competitor in the 2021 draft fell to us in the 3rd round—Zack Stringer. He is the type of player who is making our organization successful and we are glad to have him in our prospect pool.
