I think we'd sooner see the Avalanche sign Cody Ceci rather than Travis Hamonic, though fortunately I don't think either will happen.

If you include Kaut and O'Connor, the Avs have 14 forwards. If you take the Mattias Janmark rumors seriously, they may be looking for a 15th. I'm still predicting another trade. Alec Martinez, David Savard, or MacKenzie Weegar would make a lot of sense.

Seemingly, a majority of the Avs most recent moves, seems to have a decent chunk of emphasis on advanced stats.

I’d look at guys who can skate on D, and who have good advanced stats as Avs likely targets.

Yeah, Sakic....with half retention on MAF/Schmidt/1st for Jost.
Then Sakic sends Cole/ JTC to Ottawa for 7th rounder and prospect.
Franky to Chicago for pick.

But for real, how many teams need a goalie right now?
Based on the list below from the main trade board thread Chicago looks like the likeliest players for Fleury.

Speculation: - Teams still in need of a goalie?

So, Jost has to be in the trading queue, right? I would've guessed that his contract would be the first done as he has like zero leverage to negotiate.

It would certainly appear that way.

That said, it's probably the cheapest and easiest deal to get done, so it's possible that Sakic is leaving it to the end so as to give himself some flexibility when it comes to acquiring a Dman. You wouldn't after all want to get priced out of being able to acquire someone like Schmidt because you signed Jost for $2m the previous day.

The fact that Weegar can play both sides would be hugely beneficial given that we have some uncertainty regarding which one of Byram/Timmins will make the roster. A deal like Graves + Jost for Weegar + pick could be something that works for both teams.

Bednar is one of the coaches who prefers LHD-RHD pairings so he'd probably want Weegar on the right side.

Graves-Makar
Girard-Weegar
Byram-EJ

I want Girard-Makar but I don't think the Avs do.

So, basically they're hoping MAF will waive to go to Chicago and they'll want him.
Yep, VGK is screwed as far as Pie. They'll have to get rid of real players.

C'mon Hall, sign with Nashville already so the next dominoes start to fall.

One would think that Graves would be part of the return for Florida. They'd probably prefer to move Strålman though.

Graves ------ Ekblad
Yandle ------ Stralman/Weegar
Nutivaara --- Gudas

From our perspective if we moved Graves for Weegar:

Weegar -------- Makar
Girard --------- Johnson
Cole/Byram --- Timmins

.... then once Byram establishes himself a bit more you can move Weegar to the right.

Or:

Girard --- Makar
Byram --- Weegar
Cole ----- Johnson
Timmins

Sounds good to me...so it is definitely not the right thing to do.

On 2nd thought, if we're acquiring a young RHD then it probably makes most sense to include Timmins and keep Graves around.

Graves --- Makar
Girard --- Weegar
Byram --- Johnson
Cole
(Gilbert/Zhuravlyov --- Barron/Helleson)
