The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded Elvis Merzlikins, Vladislav Gavrikov and Adam Clendening to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Ryan Merkley, Nicolas Meloche, Aaron Dell and picks #37 and #83 in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

When asked to comment on the trade, Sharks GM hi had this to say:

"There ain't no mountain high enough. Ain't no valley low enough. Ain't no river wide enough. To keep me from getting a better goalie than Martin Jones so our fans will no longer have to be subjected to that sad excuse for goaltending. Also getting Gavrikov to cover up for Karlsson and Burns is a nice plus. Losing Merkley, Meloche and the picks hurts"
