2020/21 Fantasy Draft v2 (Bracket Style)

Opening up signups for round 2, this time under bracket format, we will have 32 teams. Read the rules carefully. Signups now open, don't state your team.

Goal
-Drafting the team that would win this coming season (2020/2021) in a 7 game series

Secondary Awards:
- Best Future (you will rank your top 5 in a PM to me)
- Best GM (based on drafting and trading, again you will rank your top 5 and their team and send it in a PM to me)

Salary Cap
- 60M floor, 75M ceiling
- 5M bonus each way if you're doing a restriction, if you fail restriction you lose 5M each way, must be < 400 players, must state you're doing one but not required to disclose what it is until drafts conclusion

Draft/Bracket Lottery
-Before the draft commences we will hold a mini draft lottery
-1st team drawn picks their draft slot and team 1st, 2nd team picks their draft slot and team 2nd, 3rd team picks their draft slot and team 3rd etc
-32nd drawn team picks their OPPONENT first, 31st drawn team picks their OPPONENT 2nd, etc
-If someone chose your team as their opponent, you forfeit the right to choose your opponent with that team

Draft
-Snake draft style
-3rd round will be reversed (meaning the team that picks 31st in round 1 will pick 1st in rounds 2 and 3)

Trades
-Can trade picks/players as long as everyone has 20 players at the end of the draft
-If your pick has been skipped you can't trade it
-When making a trade, please post in this thread and have the other GM confirm
-Each asset may only be traded ONCE, meaning every pick once, and every player once
-No on the clock pick trading
-We will have a veto council of 3 people for controversial trades
-Each team may only make 5 trades for the entirety of the draft

Contracts
-Using 2020/21 cap hits
-HOWEVER: any player who played last season in the NHL and who doesn't have a contract at the time the game clock starts uses their 2019/20 cap hit (i.e. possibly Mike Hoffman)
-Players must have a contract for the 2020/21 season, OR have played in the NHL in 2019/20

Waiver period:
-At the end of the draft you may drop/pick up ONE player

Time Limit for picks/Mention Rules
-2 hours for rounds 1-6, 1 hour for rounds 7-16, 30 minutes for rounds 17-20
-If you have back to back picks, it's still 2 hours not 4
-The clock starts at 10:00 AM ET and ends at 12:00 AM ET
-You have 10 minutes to change your pick if the player selected has been picked, then we move on
-You must @ and pm next player after you, or ask someone to do it for you
-Failure to @ or pm results in your clock being cut in half on your next pick

Skipped Picks
-I will auto teams with skipped picks if 40 selections have been made since the pick
-Auto skipped if you have a pick to make up
-3 skips gets your clock cut in half

Voting
-Bracket Style, we will have 32 teams, everyone qualifies
-Tie breakers are most votes from players in the game, then to main boards
-Siblings cannot vote for each other
-ALL HF GAMES
-Voting based on who would win in a 7 game series

I would say no pick trading or under the table pick trading so we don’t have to worry about missing the trades and updating the board.

I think the restriction thing is cool, but we should have to disclose to you privately what it is so that there’s actually a record of it. Otherwise someone could just change their restriction throughout the draft as their first choice becomes harder/impossible to pull off and still get the cap bonuses.

I'm pretty sure that's what we did in past GM games.
