Very impressive how O'Reilly and Barkov ( Monahan as well to a lesser extent) are able to impact the game in so many ways without taking any penalties.

Im just baffled how defensemen are unofficially ineligible to be nominated for this award.

2 years ago Oscar Klefbom was the Oilers #1 D and played all 82 games and had 6PIM. Wasn't even nominated.

It was funny back in Lidstrom's last season this was pointed out, so a big unofficial campaign in the media (who votes on the award) started to get him nominated. It was really transparent what was happening, even though it didn't work out. Though it did likely give the momentum for the next year when Campbell won it.
