Verlander has recovered nicely and his pitch count is good for 5 innings now. Paxton is pitching well but at 97 pitches in the 6th. If someone gets on he’s getting pulled.

Bad call on the Didi check swing. Red dock follows that up with a great catch in RF to close out the inning. Verlander has been dominant since the 2nd inning. Urshela makes a nice play on Yuli to get the 1st out of the 8th

Hard to decide who’s more pathetic at the plate - Alvarez or Sanchez. Both look lost but Britton just clowned Alvarez in the exact same pitch 3 time’s in a row. Pretty sad at bat

Verlander sucked in the 1st but pretty much breezed through the rest of the game. Astros weren’t winning tonight based on how well Paxton pitched and the way they hit.

Bullpenmageddon for game 6 should be the complete opposite

As it turns out even if Verlander is totally on his game for 8 innings the Astros probably lose anyway the way it went tonight. This is why I liked the idea of holding him back for 6. No way do you lose both at home with him and Cole

The idea of bullpen games in the playoffs, much less Game 6, seems absolutely absurd to me. Whether the absurdity is good or bad, I am willing to be open to that.

Wonder how many playoff games that were not shutouts had all the runs scored in the 1st inning.

The Astros winning tonight would really behoove them as they can throw Cole game 1. Their bullpen has done pretty well this series, and they havent worked to much.

To answer your question, Buck said that is the first time it ever happened in over 1600 playoff games.

So the 2003 Marlins are supposedly the only team to go on the road and win 6 and 7 ever in the LCS or WS. The 92 Pirates came within one out of doing it

That is not correct, the Red Sox the next year in 2004. The Royals did it in 1985 and the Pirates in 1979. That is all that I know of.
