*most* of that seems reasonable

Would probably have Draisaitl at closer to 85 points, Nuge closer to 65, Klefbom won't at a full season, so pro rate to his 65 games and it looks like 30 points, would almost double Nygards numbers based on his opportunities and would bump Kass up to 35 points

Very reasonable. Also even lower than last years goal total.

I expect one guy to get time in the top 6 to score a bit more. Another to slightly exceed expectations. Possible to get maybe 250 goals out of this line up.

Goals against more important for next year.

1. McDavid (45G 80A 125P)
2. Draisaitl (42G 56A 98P)
3. RNH (26G 35A 61P)
4. Neal (25G 21A 46P)
5. Benson (18G 20A 38P)
6. Klefbom (10G 26A 36P)
7. Nurse (8G 27A 35P)
8. Kassian (15G 19A 34P)
9. Gagner (10G 18A 28P)
10. Chiasson (12G 16A 28P)
11. Jones (4G 22A 26P)
12. Nygard (8G 18A 26P)
13. Granlund (8G 17A 25P)
14. Khaira (8G 14A 24P)
15. Archibald (6G 12A 18P)

I would predict around 250 goals which would be about a +20 difference from last year. The difference between playoffs and no playoffs will be if goals against can reduce by about 20 as well.

Benson at 38 points would probably put him in the Top 5 for the Calder.

I don’t care about assists for next year so I’m just going to do goals here for the Oilers:

  1. McDavid | 46 goals
  2. Draisaitl | 48 goals
  3. Nuge | 32 goals
  4. Neal | 21 goals
  5. Nurse | 10 goals
  6. Klefbom | 8 goals
  7. Gagner | 15 goals
  8. Chiasson | 15 goals
  9. Kassian | 12 goals
  10. Larsson | 6 goals
  11. Granlund | 12 goals
  12. Khaira | 6 goals
  13. Benning | 6 goals
  14. Nygard | 12 goals
  15. Russell | 3 goals
  16. Haas | 5 goals
  17. Archibald | 15 goals
  18. Jones | 2 goals
  19. Bouchard / Benson / prospects: 20 goals
Edmonton Total Goals For: 288 goals

Top 7 team in NHL for goals.

That’s the 18 spots on the roster obviously with Nygard is just a guess.. but I can see what Holland did here.. he definetely added goals to the roster we are going to score 250++ for sure imo.. but 280 isn’t really out of the picture with this squad just basing off of last years paces for these players.

Nuge should continue and have another career year. Players like Granlund and Archibald were great little pick ups.. 15 goal scorers type potential seasons.. that’s huge for this team.

I think players like Benson and Bouchard will see some ice time as well. I think Bouchard ends up full time this year.

So you believe we will be a top 5 scoring team next year?

Doubt it. Your bottom 6 numbers are a little crazy.

I think at some point, McDavid is going to score 50 or more goals, and I think he'll do it at least 2 or 3 times. Not sure if this will be the first year for that, but he's getting close.

Last year 288 goals would have put a team in 4th....well behind the first place Tampa Bay Lightning (319) and 1 behind the tied for 2nd Calgary Flames/San Jose Sharks(289).

I don't see it happening, but like the thinking....here's hoping you are correct!

Well if you just take everyone’s paces and add for someone like a Nuge and minus for a Kassian.. use a little common sense.. the math says that we could hit 280 goals yup. I mean I put 12 goals for Nygard I have no idea if someone is going to score 12 goals in that slot or what his name will be.. but for the most part you could take a decent guess on the players. For all we know Benson makes the top 6 and pots 20 goals and Nygard only scores 5.. either way we are in the ball park.. if everyone can just hit their paces we should hit 280 on paper.

We have mcdavid and Draisaitl.. it really shouldn’t be THAT hard to believe that this team could be a top 5 scoring team.. it really should be. I know our additions were minimal but he added some 15 goal scorers to the team.. Neal will do 20+ if he makes and sticks in the top 6.. Chiasson should be good for 12-15 goals he will see some time in the top 6.. we have a lot of 12-15 goal players and I think Nuge continues taking a step forward and hits 30. If Bouchard makes the team and can contribute he will add a new style to the Oilers as well which will make us more dangerous offensively when he is on the ice..

The one long shot I put was Nygard at 12 goals.. but between our prospects (20 goals added for that, benson and Bouchard and whomever else plays) and then between a guy like Nygard.. if we hit 32 goals between all that the math doesn’t change. It’s doable. But yeah we added a lot of silent depth here..

It can be a very different team.

McD, Drai and Nuge tally 110 goals total. The rest of the team tally 120 goals. 230 goals for 300 goals against. Team finishes 3rd to fifth last.

I'm expecting him to tighten up defensively. To me he looked like he was one of the worst offenders for cheating in the defensive zone last year and I think he'll work harder at taking care of his own end this year. I'm also expecting him to play less with McDavid this year than last, and for the 2nd PP to get more playing time this year now that they can put Neal with Nuge there.
