Maybe, but a younger player with term comes with a higher price tag. Hoffman would be a good get. Especially if he's moved at a reduced rate to clear cap space.

Normally yes, but this is Fenton we're talking about here. He hasn't exactly shown a knack for extracting good value in trades so far.

Any news on Connolly? He's been rumored to be courted by Edmonton, but it's been quiet on that front, which is apparently a prerequisite for any Botterill-move.

This has to mean we're moving on from a defensemen. What the hell is Boterill doing.
We have a couple d on the injured reserve already, Scandella is whimsical and we might trade Risto and/or McCabe.
+Rochester might need some help we took Pilut+Guhle from them last season.

is the answer jesus

That's true and if something akin to the Coyle deal gets it done (Say Nylander in place of Donato) then that's absolutely a deal I can get behind. I tend to think given his term he's going to command much more than Coyle, but maybe Fenton has another brain dead moment.

It just seems really weird that a third of the league could be in on the guy and one of those teams isn't going to basically guarantee him he will be in the NHL when the season begins.

A one way contract is not a guarantee they're going to make the team.

Think you missed the point: a third of the league is in on the guy and are competing to land him. That means out of 12 teams you have to give him the best offer. It just seems that whomever lands him would have to make an under the table deal that he starts the season in the NHL.

Not necessarily. They may just want the extra money

Offering a one way deal at the max "buriable" salary will eliminate at least half if not 75% of the suitors.

Weird...this is presented as fact and yet whe you read it it seems to be...baseless...

And even if it were true you’d still need to beat the other 3-6 teams your scenario leaves...and it only takes one other team to drive price.

Weird.
