Twarynski doesn't have much upside but he could skate regular shifts on a 4th line in the NHL right now which is probably more than must of the remaining scrubs will ever achieve... right?

He seems most likely to be capable of carving out an NHL-role, albeit a 4th liner.

He was Dave Hakstol's favorite prospect. Need I say more?

I'm guessing the last 3 are Sushko, Twar, and Laberge to round out the top 30. Pretty sad to see a 2016 top 40 pick ranked this low. Hextalls biggest whiff probably, even if injuries played a part.

NOOOO WAYYYYYY

Laberge actually had some skill and looked good in the prospect game. Didn't work out, but you can see why someone would think he could.

The biggest whiff is Ginning, by milessssssssssssssssssssssss

Oh damn I forgot about Ginning. Brutal pick. I wonder which scout Hexy owed a favor to make that pick.

Maybe he let Hakstol pick him

We know about his fetish for blonde Swede defensemen in that mold.

EDIT- also, I look forward to being about to say "I forgot about Ginning" in the near future when he's working at IKEA.

Unlike Ginning, I feel confident Laberge is a lock to NOT play in the NHL. At least there are a few semi-interesting players with a floor or upside to fill out a top 30. Don’t think Laberge has either. He’s just bad.

Ginning and Laberge should both be locks for that.

Expecting a GM to be dumb enough to let Ginning into the NHL doesn't make him any better.

I dunno man. Laberge looked like his usual self in the rookie game: bad

He just does nothing well. Heard good things about him after he was drafted but I have rarely ever seen those good things show themselves in games I’ve seen of his post-draft.

Not rookie game, the Top Prospects game. I'm talking about before he got drafted, which is when he looked like he had some potential, so it was understandable that we would target him.

This game. (goals at 6:50 and 9:58)

Some guys never make it back from injuries.
Morin may be one of these guys as well, given early camp reports.

Laberge’s hockey sense is beyond repair.

Was it a hot mess prior to being drafted? Didn't catch any of his games in his draft year so I'm in the dark a bit. Post-draft, it's definitely an issue that sticks out quite a bit

I honestly didn't watch much. He wasn't someone who thrilled me, what little I had watched. Like you, I've basically just focused post-draft on him, and his injuries --terrible as they were -- seem like an excuse or rationalization at this point.

Even when he has been healthy for long stretches, he's invisible more than not, with the odd flash. His skating really hasn't developed; it has gotten worse even as he's added size. He was someone who was noted early on for being a little chippy. I hate blaming energy level; so, while he looks very disengaged, I'll just say he looks super slow processing the play with and without the puck. I used to at least think he had superficially good hands, at least in space. But I don't even see that much now.

Major injuries can impact a player's development, both mentally and physically.
He looks like he really slowed down, and even the mental stuff can be subconscious fear, more focused on avoiding hits than following play.
