I believe benching Butler was much worse than the Seahawks play. (Throwing was fine, that specific play was not.)

100% correct, not only was throwing fine, in the defensive formation the Pats were in, it was the right call.

It's similar to the 4th and 2 play against the Colts. The decision to go for it was the right one, it was throwing a 1.5 yard out to Kevin Faulk that was the wrong part when you have Randy Moss.

Even worse was taking a timeout before the play, leaving them unable to challenge since it started with 2:02 on the clock. They mis-spotted the ball. But still, don't throw 2.2 yards when you need 2, throw a 4 yard pass.
