I'm amazed at how much his game has matured since landing in NJ. The Devils version Hall is far superior to the Oilers version, for whatever reason.
He was a threat almost every shift I watched him play this season. That certainly wasn't the case in Edmonton.
The same. Right.Sure it was the same. Hall finished 6th in scoring in the league with the Oilers just like he did this season with the Devils.
People just try to rewrite reality to fit a narrative.
Arent they the exact same difference...?
As a season ticket holder.seeing all edmonton home games.....Taylor seemed frustrated. Then we got Mcdavid. As good as Taylor was...Edmonton did not progress. (lots of factors..coaches..etc.). The change did him well ..motivation and I am happy for him. It is easy to say ...we lost a trade but how many years did Taylor have to be the guy? Never happened in Edmonton. Perhaps we should have been patient...not sure but I do like Larsson . Perhaps we see Lucic resuface as a dominate player next year?
Cheers
This is so wrong though. Clearly I'm being baited, but Hall never put up numbers close to that, nor was he inclined to throw the team on his back when he was in Edmonton.a 2nd pairing defensive Dman has much more value than a 93 point Hart winner
Hall was PPG once as an Oiler, his season high was 80 points.Sure it was the same. Hall finished 6th in scoring in the league with the Oilers just like he did this season with the Devils.

I don't think that the first part is quite true. Hall was traded as a 24 year old who had previously put up a stretch of 130 points in 120 games over two seasons. That's about an 89 point pace. The offensive ability and upside was always there for him, and that's why even at the time of the trade it was so heavily criticized. The biggest difference is that Hall has drastically improved his overall game and I'll concede that, but the ability to perform at a very high level offensively was always thereThis is so wrong though. Oiler Hall and NJ Devil Hall are two astronomically different players.
Also no, I'm not defending the trade.
Lots of athletes have the raw ability to do very well at their craft. Lots of them also lack the mental game to truly put it all together. Hall was never going to be the MVP he is today as an Oiler. The fault is with the franchise as much as with him, but going to Jersey forced him to grow up mentally and that just wasn't happening in Edmonton. Two totally different players.I don't think that the first part is quite true. Hall was traded as a 24 year old who had previously put up a stretch of 130 points in 120 games over two seasons. This trophy is a joke. The voters pick and choose when it's a best player award and when it's an MVP to their team award. McDavid got screwed.
the best player has the most value
that's just a mathematical fact
Voting criteria for the Hart is stupid. McDavid was by far and away the most valuable, and best player in the league.
Um. One is for "Most Outstanding" and one is for "Most Valuable".
The most value.....FOR THEIR TEAM, you mean.
That's why Hall won.
The only people that should have a gripe are Avs fans since it was so close.
Anyone else is just whining for the sake of whining.
the team part of that sentence is nothing more than meaningless fluff though
value is something you have a certain amount of that can be expressed numerically
if someone has "100 value" they provide 100 value to their team whether that team is the 1977 Canadians or the 1992 Sharks
if you have a 100 value player on the 1977 Canadians and a 80 value player on the 1992 Sharks the former is providing 100 value to their team and the latter is providing 80 value to their team
switch the team they're on and the 100 value player is still providing 100 value to his team and the 80 value player is still providing 80 value to his team, because that's the amount of value that they have
Should have been MacKinnon. Without him they're another lottery team this past season.
Without Hall NJ misses the playoffs, but not in the basement.
Flame away
Nah the Oilers are just garbage.Because he’s a great individual player but an atrocious team player.
He’s in the running with Corey Perry for the weakest hart winner of all time IMO.
Are you f***ing kidding?Because he’s a great individual player but an atrocious team player.
He’s in the running with Corey Perry for the weakest hart winner of all time IMO.
He has some of the worst hockey sense of top six forwards in the league, but an extremely high level of athleticism.
He’s been doing the same stuff for nearly ten years now. Screaming down the wing and looking for a cut post blue line to the net. If he doesn’t have that he either makes a terrible drop/float pass or throws it on net.
I won’t deny his natural athleticism or ability to post points, but Taylor hall does not elevate the players around him.
